The number of people per cabin will be reduced, events and dinners will be canceled and sanitation measures will be taken. Andorra copes with the coronavirus with its closed ski resorts. The Andorran Ski Federation does suspend its competitions.

Activity continues in the snow fields, although the Government assures that preventive measures will be intensified.

The Minister of Tourism, Verónica Canales , the Minister of Health , Juan Martínez Benazet , and the Minister of Finance, Eric Jover , met this Thursday afternoon with representatives of Ski Andorra to study the performance and will be in contact daily for if further action is required.

According to what RTVA has learned, among these the possibility of reducing the number of people by cable car and using all open chair lifts is valued. There will be no dinners or events. At the moment no restoration point will be closed to avoid crowds to the others.

The Andorran Federation suspends its competitions

The Andorran Ski Federation and the Andorran clubs have decided to suspend , until the situation or the recommendations of the pertinent authorities so indicate, any skiing activity, following the indications that the Andorran Government has advised in order to avoid the spread of the coronavirus.

Many cancellations

The increasingly restrictive measures of mobility of people that apply the governments of European countries, prevents many of its citizens from following the advice of not traveling. Andorra is highly dependent on visitors from Spain and France.
The director of the Hotel Union, Jordi Pujol , affirms that for this weekend the number of cancellations of reservations is approximately 26% , but the figure begins to rise for the next few days and also for Week Santa, where cancellations go up to 80% .

Faced with this situation and that reservations no longer come in for the next days or Easter, the hotels are dedicating themselves to managing cancellations.

Another harbinger of declining bookings is also the data from bus companies, which register fewer travellers.. From Direct Bus they have noticed a decrease in sales compared to journeys in Barcelona of 15% and from the Montmantell group, its manager, Pilar Buscall , commented that they are receiving cancellations both on the way to and from the holidays to their destination. Lleida, and that some schools in Spain have also decided to cancel planned holidays.

In the Caldea leisure center there were some 150 requests for cancellations out of a total of 20,000 reservations, which, according to Patricia García, director of Marketing and Sales , is a number that continues in the average number of cancellations that the center receives and that therefore the figure "is not out of the ordinary."
