After a very quiet ski season, the ski lifts of the ski resorts will be able to reopen this spring. As of May 19 and with an occupancy of 50%. It's better than nothing, but it's a start.
Throughout the winter, companies, ski resorts and professionals linked to the snow tourism ski area spoke with the government and implemented protocols to ensure the safety of customers. Unfortunately that was not enough. The reopening of the ski lifts kept getting postponed and eventually the French ski resorts had to announce that the 2020/2021 ski season was not going to happen.
The lifting of the decree of December 4, 2020 will allow the general public to practice summer skiing in Tignes, Val d'Isère and Les 2 Alpes where the reopening is scheduled for May 29 . Mountain bikers and hikers can also take advantage of the ski lifts.
The first of the resorts that has confirmed that it's officially opening is Les 2 Alpes, which will be next Saturday, May 29. Check out our live-streaming webcams and you'll see that the Mont-de-Lans Glaciar is looking fantastic!
50% of the capacity is reserved for the general public. They must buy the Ski Passes in advance, ensure social distancing whilst in the ski resort and wear a mask in queues and closed spaces.
