One of the factors to consider before booking a skiing holiday, apart from the snow conditions, is the weather forecast at the ski resorts.
These information boards are very useful for skiers that plan ahead and for those other skiers that plan everything at the last minute.
Here you can check the weather at the different ski resorts in Europe that we offer on our website and the weather forecast for the next days. Being informed is important, but even more important if we are talking about your skiing holidays.
If you go skiing to any of the ski resorts that have a couple of sectors, you will be able to see the weather forecast for each one of them, this information will be broken down by hours. For example, if you are going to go the Grandvalira ski resort in Andorra, available during the winter months, when the weather is more unpredictable, you will be able to choose carefully the days you want to ski in order to get the most out of your skiing holidays in Andorra.
Below, you will be able to find some useful tips:
- If it's sunny: the snow reflects the sunlight, so, if you do not want to burn your skin, take some sunscreen, it's essential. Take a pair of sunglasses that only allow 8% to 18% of sunlight. When the weather forecast at the ski resorts also indicates wind, this can crack your lips, so you should also bring lip seal.
- If the sky is cloudy: in these cases you should wear polarised sunglasses that let in between 18% and 40% of light. If the temperature is between 0 and 10 degrees below zero, always wear three layers (anti-sweat shirt, a vest or jumper and an anorak).
- If it's raining: can you ski or snow when it rains? The answer is yes, but this is not for everyone. If you are not an expert skier, it is not recommended, but if the forecast says it's going to rain at the ski resort you can wear orange or blue polarized glasses for more visibility. If you do not feel like skiing, you can also take the opportunity to visit some architectural gems or do some shopping. For example, if you are in one of the ski resorts in the Pyrenees, you can take advantage of the opportunity to spend the day in one of its excellent spas.
- If it's going to snow: if the conditions are good and the it's not snowing a lot, you will be able to ski. Take thermal skiing trousers and when the temperature is under 10 negative degrees, appart from a thermal t-shirt, wear a sweater under your anorak.
- No snow: is this an issue and the conditions aren't good enough? Have they closed the resort for the day? Don't worry! If you love mountains, there are many outdoor activities that you will be able to do such as rafting, trekking and many more.
