The ski resort of Sierra Nevada reaches this Thursday, February 29, the largest skiable area of the season with the opening of new slopes, including the black slopes that lead to El Rio, and increases thickness in all areas thanks to the snowfall recorded earlier this week. It is expected that a total of 65 kilometers can be opened.
During today's day, Wednesday, the resort has put into service 46 kilometers because the strong wind has prevented the opening of the areas of Veleta and Laguna that tomorrow, if weather conditions permit, will be operational.

One of the most significant additions after the storm will be the black slopes of Fuente del Tesoro with exit by the Tubo del Enebro, El Paso and the last wall of Neveros. Other new slopes are Trampolín, Piornos, Vuelta Zahareña, Cantera, Montebajo, Variante Morillas and Puerta Fajalauza.
Thicknesses have improved in all areas, increasing in some of them up to 40 centimeters more.
For the opening of the ski resort today, Wednesday, it has been necessary to unblock the ski lifts by the ski lift maintenance service, which has removed the ice that prevented the operation of chairlifts such as the Stadium.
Today, day of Andalusia and therefore festive in this autonomous community, the station has registered 10,500 skiers and 1,500 visitors, while the prospects of hotel occupancy already exceed 80 percent for the next few days.

In addition, the organizing committee of the Snowboard Cross World Cup is working intensively on the competition circuit, in Loma de Dílar, where on March 2 and 3 two races of the world circuit of the discipline will be held.
The circuit, which has been designed in an off-piste area of the Loma de Dilar ski area, does not interfere at all with commercial skiing and can be an added attraction for skiers who come down that area and want to see the show live.
