You can now go skiing to Sierra Nevada from any Andalusian municipality

1 If you have not yet planned your getaway in Sierra Nevada, now is the time.

The Junta de Andalucía has opted for flexibility in this third wave to temper the economic effects of the pandemic. In this way, Sierra Nevada will be able to welcome again skiers from other Andalusian municipalities as of this Saturday after Monachil has lowered its incidence rate of the coronavirus to 374.7, so it will leave the lockdown that the municipality has closed the last two weeks.

In the last two weeks, in Sierra Nevada only federated and competition teams could ski.

For this reopening, they will return to the scenario of two weeks ago and the measures published in the BOJA by the Board at the beginning of January, when Sierra Nevada was saved from the closure between the provinces as long as a ski pass was previously purchased, which was the only one safe conduct to move around the Andalusian territory.

Since the lockdown of Monachil was decreed two weeks ago, the ski resort has remained open to a minimum. Only the Jara and Monachil chairlifts and 20 skiable kilometres have been in operation for the residents of this town under which the slopes and lifts are located.

As of tomorrow, as soon as this unlockdown becomes official, Sierra Nevada will be able to host skiers from other towns in Andalusia, as long as they do not have a municipal closure. Entrance to the facilities of federated athletes in Andalusian territory with their corresponding Ski Pass will also be allowed.

In principle, the idea of Cetursa is to maintain the 20 kilometres, because although the resort opens, all the Andalusian capitals have perimeter closure and, today, they are not potential customers of Sierra Nevada until they drop below the 500 rate. on the Costa del Sol, a notable skiing area, most municipalities are confined except for Torremolinos.
