The train drivers of the Sierra Nevada The start of work in the upper parts of the ski area is traditionally set for the last weekend of November, while waiting to confirm if the snow conditions allow it.

When do the ski resorts open?

These first works consist of making snow stockpiles (accumulated on the Veleta road) in the changes of slope of the slopes of the Veleta area. This will allow that, in next snowfalls, the treading of tracks will be more effective for the preparation of skiable surface, as detailed by the station.

In the next few days it is not expected to snow in the environment of the ski resort of Granada, but there is optimism that by the end of the week or early next week new snowfall that could improve the conditions of the ski area.

The ski resort of Sierra Nevada closed the last winter season 2023/24 with 1,100,945 users, the seventh highest overall influx in history. There were 780,816 skiers and 330,129 users of snow activities for non-skiers. In the central months of the season, the busiest months, hotel occupancy was 70 percent.
