Andorra kicks off a weekend of 100% and three days of skiing World Cups

Published: Feb. 27, 2026

Grandvalira Resorts are living one of the sweetest moments of the season and are preparing to live a new weekend with excellent snow conditions in which, in addition, the weather will accompany during all days with sunny days and mild temperatures.

Between the three resorts are opening these days more than 300 skiable km with great snow thicknesses that in no case fall below two metres of accumulation. Pal Arinsal has up to 240 cm of snow, while Grandvalira accumulates thicknesses of between 240 cm and more than three metres. In Ordino Arcalís the snow ranges between 3 metres and three and a half metres. The freeride paradise has two of the areas for the practice of off-piste for lovers of this modality.

Grandvalira Resorts reminds that the access to Andorra from the Catalan Cerdanya remains fully operational and that you can move normally to cross the border from France to the Principality.

Many proposals and activities to enjoy the snow

This weekend Grandvalira will celebrate a new edition of The Snow Beer Days, a weekend that fuses skiing, music and festive atmosphere with activities spread over several ski areas of the resort. During two days, visitors will be able to enjoy the riders in Grau Roig, Pas de la Casa, Soldeu and El Tarter, as well as DJ sessions in Vacanal. The party will culminate with a lively après-ski at L'Abarset, which will include proposals such as a make-up area and Batak Pro, the interactive game of luminous buttons that is a trend and a hit at the most chic parties.

La Suculenta Winter Sessions has prepared a very special proposal to say goodbye to the season with "Fiestonland Carnival", a party as crazy as its name itself that invites skiers to dress up and have fun with lots of music, good hamburgers and an even more festive atmosphere. This activity is part of the animation that accompanies the extension of the opening hours in the Grau Roig ski area during this month of February, which keeps the Pessons tele-skis open until 7 pm. It will also be the last opportunity this winter to ski at night on the night slope of Pas de la Casa.

Without having to put on skis, visitors can take advantage of the large amounts of snow and enjoy other experiences such as snowshoeing, with more than 80 km of circuits ideal for discovering the natural environment at a leisurely pace; mushing, which allows you to travel through snowy landscapes with sleds pulled by dogs; or snowmobiling, designed for those looking for a more dynamic activity and controlled adrenaline. 100% excitement is also what you will experience in the activities of the Mon(t) Magic Family Park in Canillo, with the Màgic Gliss mountain slide and the half-kilometer-long zip line, or the Big Zip in Pal Arinsal. There is also a tubbing and sledging track, a more traditional but always fun activity.

Good food and long nights in Andorra with dinners and après-ski.

Grandvalira takes advantage of its privileged environment at an altitude of over 2,000 m to combine it with original proposals, very often by Michelin-starred chefs. On this occasion, the restaurant El Racó de Solanelles will bring tomorrow Thursday, February 26, the award-winning chef Enrique Pérez, from the restaurant Doncel de Sigüenza, from Guadalajara, who will show diners his cuisine recognized for a contemporary vision of Castilian gastronomy and for the sensitivity in the treatment of the product.

Ordino Arcalís will host the last Full Moon dinner of the season, one of the most emblematic experiences of the resort. The evening is held at the La Coma restaurant, in the high mountains, which can only be accessed with snowshoes or a retrac machine, a fact that makes the journey an essential part of the experience. Once at the top, particitrousers will enjoy an exclusive moonlit dinner in a unique natural environment surrounded by the silence of the snow, with the theme around the lunar cycle as a backdrop.

The Pla de la Cot de Pal Arinsal will also offer one of its star dinners this Saturday, an experience that is differentiated by the cozy atmosphere and its commitment to Swiss raclette and mountain cuisine. Access should also be made with mountain skis, snowshoes or retrac, a fact that allows you to enjoy a quiet and immersive ascent before reaching the restaurant, located in one of the most emblematic natural viewpoints of Pal Arinsal. The area has been recognized as a Starlight destination and is highly valued by stargazing enthusiasts. Two complementary proposals that reinforce the experiential and nocturnal character of the winter season in the country.

L'Abarset après-ski will extendthe day with its vibrant parties. This Friday, the venue's booth will host Luc Loren, the well-known content creator and influencer who combines his audiovisual training with music always offering great shows and an eclectic style that connect with the public in high-voltage sessions. In charge of animating the dance floor on Saturday will be the veteran Adam Beyer, an undisputed benchmark of world techno and a key figure in the evolution of the genre since the nineties. A weekend of great contrasts at the peak of après-ski that promises to be legendary and for which there are few tickets left.

Ski World Cup Andorra 2026 kicks off

With the best speed specialists performing this Wednesday, February 25, the first test of the downhill course on the Àliga slope of the El Tarter ski area of Grandvalira, in the first day of official training of this discipline, the Andorra 2026 Alpine skiing World Cup officially starts.

A total of 60 skiers from 15 countries have completed the descent. The first day of training has served for the racers to make a first reconnaissance of the Àliga slope, and this Wednesday speeds of 117 km/h have already been exceeded. The best time was made by the Czech Ester Ledecká, with a time of 1:33:39, followed by the Italian Nicol Delago +0.37 and her teammate Sofia Goggia +0.43.

The skiers have recognized the work done by the technicians of the resort. Italian Sofia Gogia said.

"The slope is perfect, the snow very compact. The first training is always to understand the slope, the second to ski better, and the race to give everything".

In the same vein, her compatriot, Federica Brignone has defined the Àliga as a track.

"very nice and with very good conditions. Andorra is always one of my favourite venues",

The emblematic Àliga downhill track has a length of 2.4 kilometres and a gradient of 751 metres, with an average gradient of 28%. The most spectacular points are the Gall jump, located in the middle of the upper part of the track, and the Curvone, the most emblematic curve of the route, located in the lower part.

Logistics underway

This first training session also served to test the entire organization and services. The timing and all the logistics of the arrival area directly on the slopes of El Tarter have been successfully tested. At the same time, the main press center, located in the Obac building of the El Tarter cable car, has been set up. The Team Hospitality (runners' rooms) and the team of volunteers are already operational.

Thursday will be dedicated to the second training session of the downhill and on Friday the downhill race will be held. It should be recalled that, in this range, and with the absence of Lindsey Vonn, the Germans Emma Aicher and Kira Weidle Winkelmann, among others, will compete for the Crystal Globe.

Sports agenda:
Thursday, February 26 at 11 a.m.: Official Downhill training.
Friday, February 27 at 11 a.m.: Downhill Race.
Saturday, February 28 at 10:15 a.m.: Super-G race.
Sunday, March 1st at 10:15 h: Super-G Race.
