Ski in Ordino Arcalis (Ordino Valley)

The Vallnord Ordino Arcalis ski resort (or commonly known as Ordino Arcalis) is located in the Ordino Valley, and together with Pal Arinsal, form Vallnord, in Andorra. The resort's northeast orientation helps to maintain a good snow quality throughout the winter and allows good skiing even at the end of it. Another reason for the conservation of the snow along its 30 kilometres of ski runs is located at a very high altitude, between 1,940m and 2,625m of altitude. Yes, usually it is a little colder than the rest of the Andorran resorts like Pal Arinsal or the ski resorts that are near, like Grandvalira.

Vallnord Arcalis is environment-friendly, not only for the way in which it is integrated into the Pyrenees mountains, but by the fact that it has accommodations around the ski tracks. This may be a minor inconvenience for skiers that are used to stay near the slopes, but also part of its charm. You can easily find accommodation in nearby towns like El Serrat, just 5 kilometres away or Ordino, located 13 kilometres from the resort and where most of hotels are concentrated in the region.

After this brief introduction, you will find all the information you need to know about this ski resort: from information on how to get to Ordino Arcalis to details about their services and their tracks, this will allow you to choose the best option for you!

Why Ordino Arcalis?

Ordino Arcalis is a versatile resort. It has spaces for all levels and offers a wide variety of areas to practice various forms of skiing and snowboarding, and especially for the practice of extreme skiing. As we have highlighted before, its charm lies in the ease with which it is built into the mountain, respecting the environment and the landscape. Here we give you some reasons why we consider Arcalis Vallnord a ski resort that should be taken into account when choosing where to go skiing:

1. Excellent snow quality

The reasons for highlighting Arcalis as a ski destination are many, but certainly the highlight is the snow quality offered by its orientation to the northeast. The snow is present throughout the season and powder quality for most of the day. It also allows skiing with a more than acceptable snow quality even late in the ski season.

2. Ideal for beginners

Remember also that this domain has ski slopes for all levels. It has 9 blue and 6 green slopes for skiers who just started skiing or snowboarding. It is important to underline the fact that the Vallnord Arcalis ski resort has the longest ski run in the Pyrenees for beginners, the Megaverde is. It's 8 kilometres long, this track offers the opportunity to newcomers to practice what they have learnt, sliding down an easy and safe track.

3. It is also a good choice for the most advanced

The difficulty of the tracks is very balanced, since a 45% of the tracks are top level. The resort has 10 red tracks and 2 black slopes, ideal for skiers determined to go down the hills at faster speeds.

4. It has family ski areas

The Ordino Arcalis is not only suitable for all levels, but has a quiet family atmosphere. A part of that half of its ski slopes are for beginners, the resort has a space specially designed for skiing with children: The Family Park. This area offers three themed tours with children's characters, where the little ones can have a great time.

5. Excellent option for beginners for freeriding and extreme skiing practice

Vallnord Arcalis proposes freeride areas ideal for people to start skiing where the snow has not been treated. Freeride areas are fully marked, you can easily access them, and if want to return to the slopes, you can also leave in an easy way. Access to the freeride ski resort Ordino Arcalis ski lift can be accessed by "Els Feixans" leading to easy, short and well marked routes.

Arcalis also allows the practice of heli-skiing. This form of snow sports is to ascend to heights that lifts don't get to and descend with a parachute the virgin snow areas. Naturally, this type of skiing is practiced by expert skiers.

Finally, the snowpark in Ordino Arcalis has over 15,000 m2 and is situated at 2,100 metres of altitude, ensuring good snow conditions. It also has multiple modules, rails and a rectangular double tube, a jump, a big jump and a pyramid, making this area the ideal place to practice different types of tricks and skills.

Access and parking in Ordino Arcalis

Arcalis has a convenient parking on the piste with a capacity of 1,500 seats and distributed at various heights. Access to the ski area is through the Arcalis road, which crosses a landscape of remarkable beauty.

Keep in mind that the lack of hotels and apartments on the slopes involves a high agglomeration of vehicles early in the morning and late on the same day when the lifts close. Many skiers choose to stay in Ordino, so the distance from there to the slopes is the busiest. Therefore it is advisable to arrive early to ski in the morning and leave half an hour before they close the lifts, to avoid having to be in long queues inside the car.

The place, the staff, the station and its more and more awareness with the environment.
Music so high or the still waste that WE GENERATE ALL that escapes the control and the alteration of the environment, contaminating it and harming the rest of animal species ... YOU NEED TO CONTINUE WORKING ... AMONG ALL ... But the station has to be which marks and directs this path for the good of all

Commitment to the environment Freeride areas marked and easily accessible. Good gastronomy
A renewal of the chairlift l'abarsetar is missing. Open the chairlift creussans more often, especially after the big snowfall. Missing initiation ramps in the woodpark.

Snow quality and attention of climbers (many Argentines) excellent.
The megaverde track is a bit of marketing; except for the initial section of the tunnel, it is more of a skiing itinerary.

Kindness, sympathy, attention.
As a suggestion. Indications of not dirtying the environment (papers, cigars, plastics), (either due to carelessness or because they are not very elegant) preserved this wonderful station.

The quality of the snow for the little that has snowed
For the few people we were there, there is still a very cold treatment of the staff, I think that when the station is below 30% (which was this weekend) they should reward the people who are going in some way.

In new gondola lift.
I went with my partner, and she was the first time I went up. The mega green from the coma gondola is totally flat, and could not learn anything. When the mega green ends, you have to go down a small piece of red track that logically if you are a beginner do not lower it, unless you lower it from your ass or mouth.

The picnic area is too far away. It is on the top of the building, touching the ceiling, which at midday it was quite difficult to eat there because of the heat it was making. I think they should enable another picnic area in the terraced area or something. It seems that if you do not consume in your restaurant (with abusive prices) you are a plague and you have to go away from everything.
