The assembly of the arrival of the Benasque gondola lift in Cerler is progressing.

1 No news about the Candanchú - Astún cable car.

With the first earthworks in Cerler, you can already get an idea of the location of the arrival of the Benasque gondola lift. It will be located in the ground area of the car park lot of the ski resort in El Molino. Some bollards started to arrive there a few days ago, which are added to the pieces of the landing terminal.

Although the first works for the new Benasque gondola lift began at the beginning of May, it was not until a month later that the official groundbreaking ceremony was held. It was attended by the President of the Government of Aragon, the Mayor of Benasque, as well as other authorities and business representatives of the valley.

Since then, the progress of the works, led by I+C Ingeniería de Zaragoza, has been very fast. The structure of the exit terminal of the gondola lift in Benasque is already finished, the pylons are being placed, and the arrival terminal in Cerler is beginning to be visible.

If the work continues at this pace, we could see the cable being laid at the beginning of October for the loading tests in November. There is no date set for its inauguration, but it could be for this coming ski season.

Even so, this is not the only unknown that hangs over this gondola lift in Benasque. And it remains to be seen whether it will be integrated in the Cerler ski pass or in the Aramón Season Pass 2025 - 2026. Or if it will have an extra cost, which would dissuade many users.

No news about the Candanchú - Astún cable car.

On the other hand, there is no news of the ski lift that should connect the ski resorts of Candanchú and Astún. An unfavorable report from the Confederación Hidrográfica del Ebro (CHE) forced to redo some points of the drafting of the project, according to the acknowledgment made by the Finance Minister of the Government of the Ebro.The Aragon Government's Minister of Finance, Roberto Bermúdez de Castro, acknowledged this at the presentation ceremony for the start of work on the Benasque to Cerler ski lift in June.

Although it was said that this report would be solved without problems in order to start seeing the beginning of the works in the middle of this summer, the reality is that August has ended and no movement of works has been seen in the area.

According to the specifications to receive the Next Generation European Funds, the reports on the complete completion of the work must be submitted before the second half of 2026 in Brussels. Therefore, they have until June 30 to complete all the work on the gondola lift. That will surely mean having to work in winter and in the middle of the ski season.

The new gondola lift will connect the Candanchú ski resort car park lot with a mid-elevation in Astún. It will transport passengers in both directions and will allow skiing in both ski areas in a single day and enjoy more than 100 kilometres of slopes.

What both resorts have presented are two projects to diversify the skiing activity. In the case of Candanchú with two toboggans in the Debutantes area, accessible with an existing ribbon in that area. In Astún , on the other hand, they will build a panoramic viewpoint that will hang in the Raca area.
