Peyragudes ski resort has increased its skiable height to 2,369 meters in the new Cap des Hittes ski area thanks to the new ski lift that has been baptized TK 1000. Now, more people can enjoy this area, known for being the ski area with the most snow in the entire resort and which until now was only available to ski mountaineers.
However, the lift's transport capacity has been limited in order to maintain the tranquility of the area, which is the habitat of the ptarmigan. In addition, to minimize the impact on wildlife, measures have been implemented, such as the use of a type of cable visible to birds.
The black trail Cap des Hittes in Peyragudes allows a drop of 1,000 meters. Hence the name of the new TK-1000.
The inaugurated slopes and ski area are for expert skiers, with black runs and freeride options, which are controlled and secured but not patrolled by machinery.
To get to the new ski area, you must take the Serre Doumenge chairlift and then the TK1000. There, you can ski the new Cap des Hittes black run and connect to the famous Vallée Blanche itinerary via the Péne Nère. Once there, a "navette" service will take you back to the foot of the slopes in the Les Agudes-1600 ski area.
In addition, there are two marked freeride options in Peyragudes called Val de Montségu 1 and Val de Montségu 2, with 3 km runs each. These routes will only have natural snow and are not patrolled by snow groomers, but are included in the ski pass and are instructed by the slopes team to decide whether they can be opened or not depending on weather conditions.
