Baqueira Beret earns 11 million euros and starts the countdown to its expansion

According to the accounts presented last December 10 at the Baqueira Beret Shareholders' Meeting organized as every year at the Montarto hotel, the fiscal year 2023, dated June 30 of that year, finally closes with a strong profit of 11 million euros despite the fact that fewer skiers were registered due to the weather conditions of a winter that had a hard time getting snow.

The profits come after subtracting expenses and taxes from the total turnover, which in this last year amounted to 64.3 million euros, 2% more than the previous winter. In other words, not only was it possible to stop the adverse weather conditions, but also to increase cash flow.

As a result, Baqueira Beret S.A. now has equity of 87.5 million euros, 10% more than the previous year. It also reduced its bank debt by 22%, to 3.4 million euros, according to the newspaper Expansión.

Baqueira-Beret SA is the main company of a group of related companies that includes Aranesa de Radio i TelevisióHoteles Nevados SA, Hoteles Valle de Aran SA, Sorpe Bonaigua SA, Viajes Baqueira Beret SA and Eurl Voyages Baqueira Beret, all of which are majority-owned by the Serra family and the insurance company Catalana Occidente, which controls it through Serusan Gestión, which holds 53% of the shares. Seguros Catalana Occidente with 12.10% and Inoc with 14.72% are the other main shareholders. The rest is in the hands of small shareholders, many of them from when the ski resort was founded.

2.2 million euros in dividends have been distributed among all of them according to their percentage of participation.

Extend to Pallars Sobirà

The result of the fiscal year 2023 was one of the points to be taken into account to start this summer the long-awaited expansion towards Pallars. A project that has been in the pipeline for two decades, but which has been stalled by the successive demands of environmentalists.

Finally, the judge gave Baqueira Beret the go-ahead to start this new plan that will allow it to get closer to the skiers of Pallars Sobirà with the creation of new slopes and ski lifts.

The goal is to reach again and even surpass the record of 1 million skiers registered in the 2021-2022 hotel offer, and that this past 2022-2023 remained at 990,032 days of skiing sold.
