The andorran newspaper "Diari d'Andorra" has announced that Iberia and Air France are negotiating with the Andorran Government so they can fly into La Seu Airport regularly.
Despite the crisis that the airline companies have experienced recently, smaller airports are now looking into offering commercial flights and Andorra - La Seu Airport has decided to do the same.
The idea is to offer regular flights all year around and so, there will be flights from specific cities throughout the year and not just scheduled trips for the Winter season. Although the main objective is to bring skiers to the Andorran slopes, it would also be about providing an alternative for transporting goods or offering a quick means of business travel.
This project would represent a significant investment for the Andorran Ministry of Economy, and this would involve the private sector in order to obtain financing. An option according to the Diari d'Andorra would be the Andorran Family Business (EFA), that would be interested in getting involved in the project and covering part of the costs. The specific proposals of the two companies are not yet available and for this reason the costs of the connections are still unknown.
The Andorran Government wants to have various air routes available before Winter. The management of the Alt Urgell airport is shared between the Generalitat through Aeroports de Catalunya and Andorra. Contacts have been made with more companies both on the Andorran side and on the Generalitat side, which means that there's a chance of working with more airline companies.
