Sierra Nevada begins to open La Laguna to exceed 50 km skiable

The ski resort of Sierra Nevada has exceeded today the 50 skiable kilometers thanks to the partial opening of the Laguna area and the incorporation of the first slopes in the area of Parador-Cauchiles. This is the largest skiable area so far this season and means that the winter resort of Granada already has slopes in its six ski and snowboard areas.

The opening of these new slopes has been possible thanks to the contribution of Borrasca Juan and the subsequent work of the station's machinists in the preparation of slopes and skiable routes with the use of snow in windbreaks and snowdrifts.

The partial opening of the Laguna is made with the Trucha slope, with entrance through Puerta Laguna and exit through the Collado Bajo, while the slope services evaluate the possibilities of completing the route to the lower station of the Laguna chairlift, which would allow the opening of this lift.

In the area of Parador-Cauchiles, the El Águila slope, which starts in the area around the Veleta peak, has extended its route to allow access to red slopes such as Universiada and Solynieve, which has partially opened up to its connection with Ribera del Genil.

Otherwise, the ski resort of Sierra Nevada will continue next weekend with its program of activities and competition in which highlights the celebration of the XX María José Rienda Trophy, and the musical sessions planned in the program Borreguiles DJ Set.

During the past weekend, the busiest of the season. Sierra Nevada celebrated International Snow Day with snow games for children, music in Borreguiles and official competitions with the Ski Club Granada and Club Monachil Sierra Nevada alpine ski trophies.

The competition was the protagonist in the World Snow Day, and it will be next weekend with the XX Trofeo María José Riensa Alpine Skiing Trophy.
