The Andorran Ski Federation (FAE) and Grandvalira have met up to discuss future alpine skiing competitions and have announced that they the ski resort is going to host the European Cup Finals that will take place next winter on the Avet and Àliga slopes of the Soldeu El Tarter ski areas.
The best international alpine skiers will all be in Andorra from March 14 to 20 to take part in a total of 8 races in the disciplines of alpine skiing competition: slalom, giant slalom, super giant slalom (super-G9 and downhill.
The International Ski Federation (FIS) has confirmed the new milestone in the FAE in the framework of the European Cup meeting of the Congress organised annually by the international entity. Due to the current situation worldwide, the meeting was held online.
The European Cup circuit will kick off in Sweden at the end of November in the women's range and will consist of 18 venues in which 39 races will take place. As for the men's range, it will begin in December in Switzerland and the 38 races will be held in 18 venues. One of the stops of the circuit will be in Panorama (Canada) where the Junior World Championships will take place (March 1 to 9).
It will be the fourth time that Grandvalira hosts the European Cup Finals.
2023 Cup Finals
The European Cup Finals next year will be the test prior to the 2023 World Cup Finals. Three years after the 2019 Finals, Andorra will once again be a showcase in the eyes of the International Federation of skiing and the world of skiing.
