Under the name of Natura Piau, the ski resort in the French Pyrenees approved an investment of around 23 million euros that will allow it to increase the number of accommodation beds , transform the facilities to be able to offer activities all year round , and finally improve the spaces common in the commercial square, one of the areas where more life is made at the end of skiing.
The development of the buildings is being carried out by the architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, whose advice will allow, among others, to modernize the shopping plaza , changing the covers of the porches that surround it and where most of the apré-ski life is currently done. , shops, various stores and restaurants will see a different image. This game will take 4 million euros.
In parallel, a new aparthotel program is being launched. Valued at 15 million euros in collaboration with the Local Public Company (SPL) Arac Occitanie. It includes 266 beds spread over 56 apartments directly on the slopes. It will thus join the 4-star Écrin de Badet managed by the Lagrange group that opened in 2019.
These are works whose first steps have been launched this summer or will begin in the coming months, but which we will see completed for the 2023-2024 ski season.
Meanwhile, what we will see this winter are some works on the track, especially designed for the little ones and the beginners .. A space called Discovery Garden with 4 resorts has been created. A space with a new covered belt that replaces two ski lifts that were already dismantled this past summer.
In this space , the Ecole track has been improved, widening it to 80 metres, and at the same time a 140-metre-long tubing area has been created. These works on the track have cost 1.7 million euros.
Investment in slopes includes activities not related to skiing. A forest area, ideal for getting out into nature, will be developed under the Engaly chairlift. In a loop of 2 km, it will be possible to practice snowshoes, walk and contemplate nature.
