Sierra Nevada will renew the lighting of its night skiing with European Funds

Cetursa, the public company that manages the ski resort of Sierra Nevada (Granada), has tendered for 1,030,978 euros, including VAT, the renovation of the lighting systems of the Rio and Maribel slopes with co-financing from European funds.

The contract, with a duration of nine months, will be resolved by means of an ordinary open procedure. According to the technical specifications, consulted by Europa Press, the objective of the work on these systems is "to achieve an improvement in their energy efficiency and performance". The objective of the work on these systems is " to improve the energy efficiency and performance of the exterior lighting of these ski slopes" within the framework of the optimization of the infrastructures and the use of the facilities of the Andalusian ski resort.

In particular, it is intended to illuminate the downhill ski slopes during the late afternoon until the slopes close. In addition, it can be used for

"special programmed events and occasional punctual lighting necessary for possible maintenance operations of the existing infrastructures".

The facilities to be renovated are located in Pradollano, in the municipality of Monachil, on the ski resort grounds from elevation 2,150 to 2,689 metres above sea level, on the Rio del Rio slope.689, on the Río slope, which covers a distance of approximately three kilometres with slopes that have gradients of between 18 and 38.4 percent, and the Maribel, a derivation of the previous one, which starts at elevation 2,510 and rejoins at elevation 2,173, with a distance of approximately 2.08 kilometres.

The width of the Río track is very variable and ranges from 75 to 14 metres in its narrowest passages, while that of the Maribel maintains a similar width along its entire route, of about 12 metres, according to the specifications.

The deadline for submission of bids has been stipulated for next October 17 at 19.00 hours, through the Electronic Bidding Portal of the Junta de Andalucía, according to official information consulted by Europa Press.

Currently, both tracks have implemented a lighting system to maintain the activity during night periods, with prismatic or conical poles, made of steel sheet of nine metres high. The number of projectors per pole or projection point is variable and ranges from one to three units. At the same time, use is made of some gondola lift structures and building facades to cover certain shaded areas. In the case of the Maribel slope, there is a 50-meter-long underpass with a lighting system using watertight linear screens with fluorescent lamps, operating both during the day and at night.

The total electrical power to provide lighting service to both runways is 72,320 W. The layout and number of existing luminaires

"are not able to provide the average luminance levels and target uniformities, so it has become necessary to rethink a new design with a change in the type of optics and new projection points.

In this context, the project aims to provide a lighting solution for the tracks in order to achieve better lighting conditions in terms of functionality, uniformity and illuminance levels along the entire route, while adapting to current regulations and improving the energy efficiency of the system."

The entire action has been divided into two phases to adapt it to the financing and investment programs established by Cetursa, as specified in the bidding specifications.
