Andorra registers snowfalls with historic figures

Many of those who were in Andorra this past weekend, went to sleep and woke up finding that their car had disappeared and it is not that some brave dared to steal vehicles in the middle of a great snow storm, but that the snowfall had been so important, that in places like Ransol they had up to one meter of snow in one night.

The Ransol weather station had measured 97 centimeters. You have to go back to March 9, 2014 to find a similar situation.

However, you do have to go far back to find such a huge accumulated total for the month of December. According to the Diari d'Andorra, the Servei Meteorològic d'Andorra, which has statistically analyzed the data, has ensured that something like this has not been seen since the 1980s .

It was on December 19, 1980 when 108 cm was recorded. To find something similar, you have to go back to December 29, 1946, when there was already 110 cm of snow in December. The difference between the mentioned dates and now is that this time it hasn't stopped snowing. The weather predictions say that there is a good chance that the storms will continue, so it is expected to finally beat those numbers.

An average of 50 centimeters of new snow has been recorded in Andorra in the last days.
