Closing Dates for Europe Ski Resorts

Spring is here and so, your days are longer and sunnier which means it's that time of the year when the ski resorts close for the season. 

However, due to recent snowfalls on March 19 and 20, the ski resorts are in great conditions and a lot of them will be able to stay open during the Easter Break. Some ski resorts will even stay open until May!

In this post we are going to share with you the closing dates of the Ski Resorts in Europe in case you want to fit in one last ski holiday!

❄ Closing dates of Austrian ski resorts ❄

❄ Innsbruck : The 13 ski resorts located in the Austrian Tyrol will close gradually, it all depends on the snow conditions.

Most of these ski resorts in Innsbruck Olympia Skiworld are planning on closing on April 5 (such as Skizentrum Schlick 2000 or Axamer Lizum, among others). Bergeralm on the other hand is planning to stay open until April 18.

It looks like at the moment only residents can go skiing in Austria so, how about planning your ski holiday for season 2021/2022? It's never too early!

❄ Closing dates of ski resorts in Switzerland ❄

❄ Arosa Lenzerheide: This resort, awarded as one of the best in the world for family skiing, will close its facilities on April 5.

❄ Davos Klosters: This gigantic Swiss ski area will close its facilities gradually. Several ski lifts such as Schatzalpbahn or Rinerhorn are expected to close on April 5 whereas others like Parsenn Klosters and Jakobshorn will stay open until April 11. Parsenn Davos will close on April 18.

❄ Engelberg Titlis: Thanks to the altitude and the recent snowfall, this ski resort will stay open the longest as it's expected to close on May 24. As of April 11, some ski areas will begin to close. Between 04/11 and 05/24 it will be possible to take the following lifts:

❄ Jungfrau Ski Resort: The ski areas in Grindelwald and Mürren will also close its facilities gradually. The Grindelwald ski area is expected to close on April 18 and Mürren on April 25.

❄ Zermatt: This ski resort has a huge glacier, which means that you can go skiing in Zermatt during the Summer, so it's expected to stay open until 04 October, when it will be getting ready for the 2021/2022 ski season. 

This is Zermatt during the last week of March.

❄ Les 4 Vallées: This huge ski area made up of several ski resorts (Verbier, Nendaz, Veysonnaz and Thyon) will close on April 22.

❄ St. Moritz: The most exclusive ski resort in the world will start to close its facilities at the end of March and is expected to be completely closed by April 25.

So, if you're thinking of booking a last-minute ski holiday to Switzerland, there's still time!

❄ Closing dates of French ski resorts ❄

As we already informed you in our last post about the Ski Resorts Opening Dates in Europe, the French ski resorts have not been able to open at all during the 2020/2021 ski season.

❄ Closing dates of the ski resorts in Andorra ❄

❄ Grandvalira: This ski resort in Andorra has been the one to have the most slopes available during the 2020/2021 ski season and will be closing on April 5 .

❄ Vallnord Pal-Arinsal: This is one of the best ski resorts for beginners and they have also confirmed that they will be closing on April 4.

❄ Ordino Arcalís: Like the rest of the Andorran resorts, it's expected to close on April 05.

❄ Closing date of the Sierra Nevada ski resort ❄

❄ Sierra Nevada: The sunniest ski resort in all of Spain will be able to stay open the longest! 

This is Sierra Nevada on March 21.

The ski resort opened on December 18 and as long as the weather conditions allow it, they are expected to close on May 2.

❄ Closing dates of the ski resorts in the Spanish Pyrenees ❄

❄ Baqueira Beret : The prestigious Vall d'Arán resort will close on April 5 , just after Easter.
