1 Andorra Tourism earmarks 3.1 million euros for the winter ski and snow hotel offer

Grandvalira Resorts has presented the new features for the 2024-2025 ski season with an investment of 20.9 million euros that will be used to improve infrastructure and services in its three winter resorts.

Thus, the investment in Grandvalira, Pal Arinsal and Ordino Arcalís includes 129 new, new-generation cannons, capable of producing more with less energy consumption; digitalization with a new generation of cannons, capable of producing more with less energy consumption; digitization with newThe investment in Grandvalira, Pal Arinsal and Ordino Arcalís includes 129 new, new-generation cannons, capable of producing more with less energy consumption; digitalization with a new mobile application; an expansion of the high-quality gastronomic offer; and the establishment of new international agreements.

The marketing director of Grandvalira Resorts, David Ledesma, has explained that

"the focus of the investment is to improve the customer experience and maintain leadership in the Pyrenees and southern Europe" . .

The distribution leaves Grandvalira 17.2 million euros, Pal Arinsal another 2.3 million, and finally Ordino Arcalís 1.4 million more. This total investment is about 13.6 million less than last season's, since the Port Negre chairlift in Pal Arinsal took a large part of the expenditure. According to Ledesma, despite the decrease, the investment remains "in line with the average of recent years".

Improvements in innovation and digitalization are this year's highlights. The new mobile application will make it possible to acquire an eSIM to surf Andorra without having to resort to roaming and includes a geolocation function to facilitate coordination between groups of skiers. This commitment to digitalization also includes an extension of Wi-Fi coverage on all slopes to offer constant connectivity to visitors.

Ledesma also announced that the opening date of the slopes is scheduled for November 30, but "it could be brought forward to November 23, especially in Ordino Arcalís", in case of consistent snowfall.

"If the forecast of arrival of fronts that is handled, cross through Andorra and leave enough snowfall, we will make every effort to open Ordino Arcalís and be the first station in the Pyrenees as last year."

Among the gastronomic novelties, a new edition of the successful Snow Club Gourmet stands out, which will feature Michelin-starred chefs and new gastronomic proposals in Grandvalira and Ordino Arcalís, with renovated spaces and special menus for lovers of high quality gastronomy.

Grandvalira Resorts has also strengthened its international agreements, extending the Andorra Pass and Nord Pass ski passes with new destinations, such as Les 3 Vallées in France and several resorts in Norway. These agreements will allow skiers of the Andorran winter resort to enjoy ski passes in world-renowned resorts, consolidating the position of the Andorran ski area on the global scene.

In the long term, Ledesma emphasized that

"Grandvalira's investment plan includes 100 million euros in the new 50-year SEATDE concession contract and a ski expansion in Pal Arinsal with another 30 million euros in the coming years, which will allow modernizing and expanding the ski area".

He also highlighted small improvements in restaurants, family accesses, car park lots and the installation of chargers for electric vehicles, thus responding to a growing demand.

In the field of promotion, Grandvalira Resorts has presented its hotel offers for the different ski areas. Ordino Arcalís has launched the hotel offer 'Indomables', with a chamois as a symbol of its wild nature, while Pal Arinsal is presented as "We are mountain. We are Ski&Bike", emphasizing the winter use of its bike park. Grandvalira has chosen the slogan 'Infinite winter', with a musical spot performed live by the Andorran National Classical Orchestra (ONCA) during the presentation.

Andorra Tourism earmarks 3.1 million euros for the winter ski and snow hotel offer

The general director of Andorra Turisme, Betim Budzaku, has announced that this year the public company has allocated 3.1 million euros to the winter communication hotel offer, which represents 800,000 euros less than last year. This decrease is due to the absence of the Ski World Cup, which was one of the highlights of the previous season.

However, Budzaku stressed that one of the most important bets for the winter season will be international customer service:

"We seek to maintain a balance between the proximity customer, especially from Spain and France, and the international customer , which has increased by 113% in the last 10 years, exceeding 616,000 visitors last season."

The general manager added that the profile of the international customer, who tends to have a higher purchasing power, tends to stay longer.

"In 2013, only 39% of winter season visitors stayed overnight, while last season this percentage exceeded 53%, more than half demonstrating the significant increase in interest in Andorra among international tourists."

This communication hotel offer will be extended to nine international markets: Portugal, Ireland, United Kingdom, Sweden, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, in addition to its neighbors, Spain and France.
