The construction of the new Nevasol restaurant, at the foot of the Borreguiles ski slope, will be completed before the end of the year. The building, erected over the old restaurant of the same name, built in 1983, has a similar composition to the previous L-shaped one, which will allow the use of the terrace by users as the building acts as a barrier against the winds.

The new distribution favors a better service to the public, with the strategic relocation of the bar and the kitchen facing the terrace. Inside, there will be two separate dining rooms, one with a larger capacity and the other with a more intimate atmosphere, a fireplace and views of the natural surroundings.

One of the keys to the project is the improvement of energy efficiency and accessibility, with special attention to the new toilets, which will be relocated and enlarged to provide service both inside and outside the building. The interior decoration and the gastronomic proposal will be closely linked to COVAP, specialized in meat and Iberian products, which is sponsoring the new Nevasol restaurant.

Snow produced

The main action in artificial snow has been the repair of the waterproofing of the Zahareña pond, one of the two that feed the snow production system.The partial repairs, carried out last summer, did not contain water losses, which at times conditioned production during the 2024/25 ski season. These works will be ready for the start of the winter hotel offer.

Another of the snowmaking department's actions is the installation of 12 new cannons which, acquired a year ago, could not be installed last season due to operational reasons, and are already in their planned locations awaiting testing: Superverde slope (Borreguiles), in Prado de las Monjas (Loma de Dílar) and El Río slope.

Sierra Nevada has installed a container capable of producing the best quality snow regardless of the air temperature. This system, which produces snow through a closed refrigeration circuit installed inside the machine itself, guarantees the operability of the area from the first days of the season. It is a rental to assess whether its operation is well suited to Sierra Nevada. Its location is the Mirlo Blanco activity complex in Pradollano.

On the slopes

For the skiable area, the ski resort of Granada will release three ski grooming machines, two of them with winch, which will be destined to the most steep slopes of Sierra Nevada. They will be equipped with the snowsat system, which allows the driver to detect the amount of snow under the machine in order to make a more efficient treading. The third machine will go to the Loma de Dílar snowpark.

The resort is renovating the lights at El Río and Maribel to improve the night skiing experience on these two emblematic slopes inSierra Nevada. The plan is to improve the energy efficiency and performance of the outdoor lighting on these slopes, which connect Borreguiles with Pradollano.

On the ski lifts

The new belts of Sierra Nevada are double and fully hooded.

Cetursa Sierra Nevada rearranges the area of the initiation carpets in the area of Borreguiles with the placement of two new double tapes, which replace a previous one and produce the relocation of another.

These two new lifts are of double carpet, so that they have capacity to transport two users in parallel, doubling the usual capacity of this type of equipment.

The first of the carpets replaces the current Dauro I* and is installed closer to the slope of the radio telescope, close to the slope, gaining land for skiing in the central area of Llano de Borreguiles. The other new carpet, which will be ready for this season, will replace the current El Bosque carpet, in a similar location to the current one, but with a slight amendment that improves the connection between the different mechanical carpets throughout the area.

Thus, for the 25/26 season, Sierra Nevada will have four carpets (two of them new) which, due to their location, form a perimeter that is almost closed to first-day skiing, which provides greater comfort and safety for both users and ski and snowboard schools.

On the other hand, the renovation of the gallery of the lower station of the Borreguiles cable car, the access building to one of the most important and emblematic lifts of Sierra Nevada, has been carried out.

The extraordinary revisions of the Parador and Emilio Reyes chairlifts and the change of cable in Laguna and Stadium have been carried out.

On the other hand, Cetursa Sierra Nevada is remodeling the interior of the Montebajo sports club (in disuse, except for the swimming pool in summer) for the transfer of the offices that the company has in the building of the Plaza de Andalucía, next to the Al Ándalus cable car, and whose future use will be hotel.

Likewise, the asphalt, paint and toilets on floor -4 of the subway car park lot in Plaza de Andalucía in Pradollano have been renewed.

Other actions to improve customer services include the construction of new toilets in Plaza de Andalucía, next to the Customer Service Offices (ticket offices). A portable toilet module has also been installed in the Pradollano bus car park lot.
