Sierra Nevada reaches 70 kilometers with the opening of new ski areas

The ski resort of Sierra Nevada continues working on the opening of new slopes and ski areas. The intense work of the slopes staff allows the Laguna de las Yeguas ski area and its chairlift to be put into operation, although access is recommended only for expert skiers.

The ski resort of Sierra Nevada has opened the area of Laguna de las Yeguas with the launching of the Laguna chairlift and the complete conditioning of its main slopes, Trucha and Olímpica, with which the winter resort of Granada now exceeds 60 skiable kilometres. Until now, these slopes were open partially and with a reduced schedule to preserve the lower areas -with scarce snow-, which have now been consolidated.

With the opening of the Laguna, the preferred area for expert skiers, Sierra Nevada puts into service all its skiable slope, the 1,200 meters that separate the vicinity of the Veleta peak and the urbanization of Pradollano.

For the incorporation of the Laguna to the skiable offer, the intense work of the station's machinists has been decisive, with important snow movements in the lower part of this area, and of the snow production in the final section of the Trucha.

However, the slopes department of Sierra Nevada has warned that skiing in the Laguna de las Yeguas should be developed with special caution, always within the marked trails and be restricted to expert skiers.

Now, efforts are concentrated on the El Águila slope, the longest in Sierra Nevada, and on the Fuente del Tesoro slope, one of the most iconic black slopes of the resort together with Neveros, which is already operational. The reinforcement of the snowmaking system at these points has been decisive for its imminent opening.

With this new situation, the winter resort of Granada will now have all its areas open, all the slopes and the great routes to reach 70 skiable kilometres.

Also, in the Loma de Dilar area, ski areas 1 and 3 of the snowpark are already open, only rails, and the Estrella de las Nieves mini-park only with modules.

Laguna de las Yeguas in Sierra Nevada is already open.
