Sierra Nevada becomes world leader in hybrid treadmills with four additional machines

Quieter, more autonomy and more environmentally friendly. The new Pisten Bully 600E+ that Cetursa Sierra Nevada is buying these last years, not only allows them to reduce their carbon footprint by emitting 20% less CO2, but they can also run more surface with less fuel.

As reported by Cetursa, they have purchased four more hybrid ski grooming machines, bringing their fleet of Pisten Bully 600E+ to a total of 8 units this winter. This means that 33% of its 22 vehicles of this type are already more environmentally friendly.

Currently, there is no ski resort in the world that has so many hybrid ski grooming machines, so Sierra Nevada leads this segment of environmental protection. Even so, this winter it will go further, and will test HVO biodiesel as a sustainable fuel. The tests will be carried out for the time being with two machines to check how this fuel, which is obtained from recycled oil and natural fats, responds at altitude and low temperatures.

Pisapista Pisten Bully 600E+

8 green machines will work this year in Sierra Nevada.

The four new 4 Pisten Bully 600 E+, with combined diesel and electric propulsion, will replace four older machines that will be retired.

The new machines, designed and manufactured -like the previous ones- by Kässbohrer, the German multinational company awarded the public tender, are co-financed by the Andalusia ERDF Operational Program through REACT-EU resources, destined to energy saving projects.

The autonomy of the hybrid track-steppers, understood as the refueling interval, is greater than that of the conventional Pisten Bully 600, thanks to their lower fuel consumption. Intelligent energy management ensures that the electric motors function as generators and support the hydraulic pumps via the distribution box during downhill travel.
