to add to your bucket list for skiing in 2022

Today we're sharing our knowledge on the French Ski Resorts so you can start planning your next ski holiday for Winter 2021/2022 .

What are the best ski resorts in France?

If we have to choose the best area to go skiing in France, we would head to the Alps as this area guarantees great snow conditions from the end of November all the way to April. Some areas are even open during the Summer like the glacier in Les Deux Alpes.

So, what are our favorite ski resorts in the French Alps? Let's find out our top 5 ski resorts that you should definitely add to your bucket list for Winter 2021/2022:

1. Chamonix

Chamonix Ski Resort is rated as one of the top ten best ski resorts in Europe . And it's ideal for intermediate and advanced skiers.

✔ It's a great ski destination to visit in December. So, if you're planning a pre-Christmas ski holiday, Chamonix has your name on it!

✔ If you're traveling with people that don't ski , you can go snowshoeing, husky sledding or visit one of the local spas in Chamonix.

✔ There's loads of bars and restaurants in the town centre where you can enjoy an evening meal. If you fancy aprés-ski drinks , you should head to Avenue Michel Croz which is full of bars with outdoor terraces and live music.

✔ The closest airport is in Geneva (GVA) , which is 100km from Chamonix.

Where to stay in Chamonix:

Our ski and snowboard experts recommend the RockyPop Hotel *** .

This hotel is located in Les Houches , a great location for families, friends and couples . The hotel is modern and has an excellent restaurant service and a food truck that serves delicious homemade burgers. The bedrooms are spacious and super functional.

Check out our Christmas 2021 Ski Holiday to the RockyPop Hotel for 788 per person . The price includes a 6-day Ski Pass for Chamonix Montblanc Unlimited ski area.

2. Tignes

Tignes is known for being one of the most snow-dependable winter ski destinations in France. This resort shares its ski area with Val d'Isère, offering a total of 300km of pistes for all abilities.

There are a total of 5 villages, Val Claret (2,100m) has easy access to the glacier and Tignes Le Lac which is just down the road, is the most convenient place to stay.

✔ If you're traveling with people that don't ski , this place offers loads of other things to do: tobogganing , ski-bungee jump, indoor climbing and there's also a giant Lagoon Aqua Center with pools, water slides and wellness area.

✔ There are bars and restaurants in the Val Claret area where you can go after skiing. Our favorite is Grizzly’s . It's a log cabin styled pub with a lovely warm and woody with an outdoor fire pit. It's one of the most attractive venues in Tignes Val Claret for a vin chaud or hot chocolate.

✔ The nearest airports to Tignes are:

Chambéry Airport , which is an hour and 40 minutes

Geneva Airport , which is two hours and 30 minutes

Where to stay in Tignes:

If you're looking for something convenient and budget-friendly, Val Claret is the best ski area in Tignes. We have a great ski deal in the Hotel & Bar Le Curling *** , which has great views of the slopes! You're a short walk away from the Tufs ski lift.

We have short ski breaks in Tignes in January from 514 per person. And that includes the hotel with breakfast, a 3-day Ski Pass and access to the Lagoon indoor pool and ice-skating rink.

3. Les Deux Alpes

This ski resort is very snowsure due to its glacier skiing , where you can also go skiing in Summer!

4. La Plagne

✔ T his resort is ideal for lower intermediate skiers and boarders and thus, perfect for a family ski holiday ! Much of the ski area is located on a plateau where there are wide and easy slopes for children to gain some confidence.

✔ If you're looking for something a bit more challenging , we recommend you to head to Roche de Mio and the Bellecôte Glacier where you'll find black runs and a large off-piste area.

✔ For non-skiers or harpés-ski family activities, try the Olympic Bobsleigh track which is open to holidaymakers at the end of the afternoon. You can also go ice skating or visit the “Deep Nature Spa” located in the centre of Belle Plagne.
