After years of speculation and vicissitudes, it seems that the project for the cable car to Pico de Carroi (Pic d'en Carroi in Catalan) is progressing at a good pace. Despite the opposition of some groups, we can already say that the first step of what would be the most spectacular attraction of Andorra la Vella has been taken and the controversial lift is closer to being a reality.

The communes of Andorra la Vella and La Massana are looking for a company to help them draw up the specifications for the ski lift that will link the two parishes through the Carroi peak . For this reason, last Wednesday the edict of a statement was published that must provide all the technical and legal studies necessary for a lift of these characteristics. The next step will be to launch a contest for the concession that the consul of Andorra la Vella expects to be in early 2021.

From the Andorran Radio and Television they report that the publication this Wednesday in the BOPA is made after the communal majorities, both in Andorra la Vella and La Massana, approved the need to put out technical advice to draw up the specifications. competition.

They require a multidisciplinary team with a lawyer and technicians from different branches such as cable transport, geology and the environment, who must determine the studies to be carried out and submitted by applicants for the cable car concession.. The team of advisers now has time until October 7 to aspire to draft the specifications and also form part of the jury that will choose the final concessionaire of the Carroi peak cable car, explained the capital's chief consul, Conxita Marsol.

The contest must be held in the first months of 2021

According to the consul's opinion, the team's election must be ready at the end of October and the winner will have one month to draw up the terms of the tender. The intention is to have everything ready this year to launch the contest in January or February 2021.

As Conxita Marsol explains, the future concessionaire will be able to choose between three different plots for the ski lift exit resort; the old bus car park lot in front of the Government, some land in Santa Coloma or the Pouets car park. Although they will be free to contribute other spaces.

The consul recalled that the Carroi cable car project will have no cost to the public coffers, since it will be fully assumed by the winning company.
