The Pas de la Casa prepares a huge slide for this ski season

Traditionally, enjoying the snow in the mountains could only be done if you knew how to ski . In addition to equipment , before they had to take some lessons . A process that left many families out of this fun. Little by little the resorts are introducing alternative activities that allow you to have fun in these winter complexes and take advantage of the infrastructures that are mounted on the slopes.

In the United States there are even snow parks with lifts, but without ski slopes . They are exclusively dedicated to families or freestyle lovers. In Europe, these types of facilities are usually set up next to ski resorts.

In our country and in the Pyrenees we have several examples such as the Fuente del Mirlo Blanco in Sierra Nevada or Nieve Aventura in Formigal . Areas dedicated exclusively to family fun. In Andorra Grandvalira Resorts is also working in this regard with several areas such as Mon(t) Mágic or the Bababoom Circus, although combining them with children's ski slopes.

These Snow Parks built next to the winter complexes have a double function. On the one hand, they allow families to enjoy the snow without having to know how to ski or wear equipment. On the other hand, it makes the resorts attract a public that may later decide to 'jump the fence' and try skiing thanks to the fact that they are seeing it more closely.

In 2019, the Magic Gliss was inaugurated in Canillo, one of the first large facilities for non-skiers. Now they are working on a large slide in Pas de la Casa. Also with the aim of attracting families and non-skiers who also want to enjoy the snow.

According to the account of Radio Televisió d'Andorra, earthworks are being carried out in the Abelletes area where four tobogganing slopes will be placed for now. All of them will go to the town of Pas de la Casa and will be operational both in winter and summer. In fact, the goal is to have them ready at some point this upcoming ski season.

The departure area is being created next to the arrival terminal of the Els Pioners cable car . According to the promoters of the project, they are looking at what they have set up in Tobogganing Park Leysin (Switzerland). The facility included in the ski resort that gives it its name is huge, with several slopes for tubing, with high exits and even ringlets. Therefore, this may be the first phase of a project that is expected to grow in the coming years if it is successful.
