Although for more than 20 years it has been possible to go with skis or snowboard from Pal to Arinsal and vice versa, the holiday has to be done in the cable car and with the equipment in hand. A connection that, although physical, forces the user to have to wait for the lift if he/she is not at the stop, and to have to remove the boards from his/her feet.

To allow a 'continuous journey' between the two ski resorts, this summer work began on the project for a total physical link. In other words, not only by ski lift, but also by slope . Once the work is completed, it will be possible to go from Pal to Arinsal and vice versa without having to stop to take off your skis or snowboard.

The general manager of the resort, Josep Marticella, explained to the Andorran newspaper altaveu.com/, that this year we will see some newly created slopes in the Setúria area: black, red and blue. And next to them a new ski lift with capacity for 700 people / h and a length of 445 meters. A snow production system and avalanche protection facilities complement the facilities, which will allow the overallincrease in the kilometres of the skiable domain, although it will still be necessary to take the cable car to go from Pal to Arinsal and vice versa.

The total union, with more slopes and new lifts, will remain for the 2024-2025 ski season. Marticella explained that the permits for the works are still in progress, and that the work companies are very busy this year in Andorra. In addition to all this, there was no guarantee that all the equipment necessary for the effective connection would arrive on time, and for this reason, "we have preferred to do it in two phases".

Although Marticella did not want to detail what the second phase will consist of, on paper the project talks about installing a detachable chairlift called "Espeluga" that will connect from the bottom of the valley to the top of the Pal-Arinsal cable car. This lift will give access to new red and black slopes. Another chairlift, but with 4 people and fixed clamp, which will be called 'Meligar', will give access to another 5 new slopes.

A second phase that Marticella wanted to clarify to altaveu.com/, which will depend on the offers of the civil work companies and the price of the equipment s.

On the other hand, another of the projects that were approved for this summer is the replacement of the 4-people chairlift and fixed clamp Port Negre, for a six-people detachable chairlift. This new lift will improve access to the highest part of Arinsal, facilitating the connection between both ski areas.
