Snowfall allows Masella to open La Pia ski area

1 Powder snow thanks to the cold and the last snowfalls.

Since January 5, the cold and especially the snow have made an appearance in Masella, which has allowed them to open, from this weekend the ski area of the Pia. In this way, the number of open slopes and lifts is increased, as well as the circulation of skiers.

According to forecasts, this weekend the Masella ski resort will open with:

- Slopes: 28 available, totaling 36 skiable km.
- 6 open ski areas: Pla de Masella, Bosc d'Alp, Cap del Bosc, Coma Oriola, La Pia and La Tosa.
- 12 operational lifts: La Pia Express, TGV, Jumbo Tosa, Masella Jet and Coma Oriola detachable chairlifts; Tosa, Rasos, Debutants del Pla de Masella and Pastors, Pastorets, la Cinta and Jardí de Neu ski lifts).
- 100% of the skiable vertical drop open, from the top of the Tosa-2535 m to Pla de Masella-1600 m.
- Access to slopes: All, La Pia, Pla de Masella and Coma Oriola.

And with the possibility of opening more slopes depending on the assessment of the Mountain Department. These last 72 hours have opened the Familiar, Clariana, Plana Inferior, Muntanyes Russes and Esquirols.

Powder snow thanks to the cold and the last snowfalls.

The arrival of the Three Wise Men last week brought cold and snow. The end of the anticyclone and the snowfall on Friday, January 5, opened the doors to the cold that has reached minimum values close to -15ºC in La Tosa on January 8.

This very low temperature, and values below 0ºC during all the last days in the ski area, allows the production of very good quality powder snow. And the best allies of the best snow are the cold and dryness of these days in the Cerdanya.

In addition, the last snowfalls have also favored the quality of the snow on the slopes. For example, in the last 24 hours, the snowfall has reached the bottom of the valley dyeing white throughout the Cerdanya region, but without complications in the road network or access to the Masella ski resort.

The snowfall and the work on the slopes have also favored night skiing, with 100% of the ski area open at night for this Thursday (open from 18 to 20:00 h) and this Saturday (18 to 20:30 h).

The snow has reached the bottom of the valleys.
