Sierra Nevada now without ski restrictions and up to 4 metres of snow

The ski resort of Sierra Nevada has received about 11,000 skiers in a magnificent Tuesday of carnival in which it has opened without restrictions to complete car park, after linking several days of closure due to adverse weather first and for the damage that the storm has caused later in the access road to the enclosure, the A-395.

The CEO of Cetursa, Jesús Ibáñez, has highlighted the "absolute normality" with which the day is developing this Tuesday in which access to the winter enclosure "have been totally fluid".

The fact that the A-395 is still under construction at kilometer 31 is not affecting the operation of the station, since yesterday the access was normalized.

The resort opened today with more than 55 kilometres open spread over 71 slopes and with up to 400 cm of snow, which can be accessed through 16 lifts and people are "enjoying the sun and the snow these days," said Ibáñez, who has also highlighted the excellent collaboration of all the authorities, the Civil Guard, the City Council of Monachil, the Local Police and the businessmen of the winter resort "so that this first class tourist destination works as usual.

As neither of the two car park lots were full (until 1.30 p.m.) it was not necessary to cut the A-395 and the two-way traffic on the inner road of Pradollano has been key to urban mobility.

Regarding the A-395 road is regulated by the Guardia Civil de Trafico. The road will be completely closed when the car park lots of Plaza de Andalucía and Peñones are full, something that has not been necessary this Tuesday.

The ski resort of Sierra Nevada had to close last Saturday after a sinking of the roadway was detected in the A-395 caused by the last storms and then has been opening with restrictions.

Before that, on Friday, it could not open because of the strong wind and zero visibility. In fact, since last January 27, with the beginning of the concatenation of squalls, the winter enclosure closed a total of 13 days and in a further twenty has been forced to open with severe limitations by severe weather adversity.
