The Cauterets ski resort remains the only resort still open in the entire French Pyrenees (until April 23). It will be the culmination of a ski season that has not gone badly for N'PY despite the great difficulties of this winter. According to preliminary data, 1,950,953 ski days have been recorded , a good result considering the slow start to the season, with Christmas practically lost and snow not arriving until almost the end of February.
Snow in Cauterets on 13/04
The figure represents a 9% drop compared to the 2021-2022 season, although it was excellent with 2,159,651 ski days sold, and is a good figure when compared to the average of the last 4 seasons, with the percentage barely dropping by 0.8%.
For N'Py, this is quite an achievement, given the difficulties encountered this year by the resorts to offer a quality product. Some ski resorts were forced to close their slopes during the winter or at most partially open their ski area, which resulted in a significant loss of 39% during the Christmas holidays and 20% in January.
These figures allow us to see the great importance of the school holidays in February and the first week of March. With just those 40 days, it was possible to overcome the big drop in percentage registered during the Christmas holidays.
This 2022-2023 season is comparable, in terms of snow coverage, to the 2018-2019 season, which recorded an overall attendance of 1,869,591 ski days. This year's 5% increase demonstrates, if anything, that skiers are coming.
We have to congratulate the mountain staff: machinists, pisteros, etc... Who have done their best to keep the ski areas open despite the critical snow conditions.
and be the first to receive great ski deals!
