Now that the ski season is over, the Sierra Nevada resort has closed its doors

This year the ski resort of Sierra Nevada has closed on Sunday, May 6, and has been one of the best seasons in its history. More than 150 days of skiing and with the third largest influx of the decade with more than 1 million users. Among them, 8887,017 have been skiers; the rest have been users of cable cars and leisure activities.

On the other hand, this year the snow has not stopped falling on the slopes of Sierra Nevada. Thanks to this, the snow conditions have been exceptional and there was a ski area of 62 km during the season. It has accumulated thicknesses of up to 4 m in average heights and wings. Also, these circumstances have favored the influx of skiers until the last day.

With regard to the origin of skiers and visitors, the presence of skiers from Granada has increased notably (+16%). The visit of Portuguese, Canarian, Basque and English has also increased. All thanks to the new direct flights from Granada airport with destinations such as France, United Kingdom and Italy.

To finish, the calendar of this season has been totally sporting; no more or less than 34 events. Where more than 2,500 athletes have invaded the tracks of this resort in Granada and have competed in different modalities such as: alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, snowboarding, ski mountaineering and cross-country skiing.
