Change of pulleys in the Veleta chairlift of Sierra Nevada
The Karlota squall has notably affected the ski facilities of Sierra Nevada. If the strong gusts of wind have kept it closed both Friday and Saturday, this Sunday it has been the ice that has prevented to start up all the planned lifts.
The morning inspection detected that the ice had severely damaged up to 12 pulleys of the Veleta chairlift, which had to be replaced. Similar situation in the four-people Emilio Reyes and the Borreguiles gondola lift, as reported by the company itself.
The situation has forced to keep several slopes closed, opening the day with just 10 kilometers of slopes, which throughout the morning have been extended to 19.3.
The opening forecast for tomorrow, February 12, is to open 27 km with a minimum thickness of 20 cm in Veleta and Parador, and a maximum of 80 centimeters in Borreguiles. The two gondolas, three chairlifts in the slopes area, and the two-people Parador in Pradollano will be in operation. There will also be 1 chairlift and 1 ribbon for beginners.
There are also activities in Mirlo Blanco, both sledging and tobogganing.
