Heavy snowfall surprises ski resorts in the Lleida Pyrenees

The strong current of air coming from North Africa and mainly attacking the eastern half of the Iberian Peninsula, has prevented the train of squalls that has been living on the other side of Spain, where in Galicia the rains have overflowed rivers, cut roads and railway lines, from reaching the Mediterranean.

It seems that the squalls are coming to an end, but before they are finished, some of them have managed to cross half of Spain and reach the easternmost part of the Pyrenees, where in towns like Setcases and the ski resort of Vallter 2000 have managed to see some flakes fall. A situation that although it will not serve to radically change the conditions, at least it may be able to start the snow production system.

But where the snowfalls have fallen more abundantly has been in the Catalan Pyrenees. From there, the Boí Taull station announced that the precipitations in the form of snow was being of importance and that until 23 h of the night about 10 new centimeters had been registered. A new layer on the slopes that skiers and snowboarders who are spending this week of Epiphany in the Vall de Boí will surely appreciate this Tuesday, January 3.

And those who will also see new conditions on the slopes will be the skiers in Espot Esquí, since there the squall has also left an intense snowfall, as it could be seen through their webcams.

While waiting for tomorrow to assess this small snowfall and to know which resorts it has affected, the front will finish passing through during the morning, and it is expected that the sun will impose itself from noon onwards, making temperatures return to normal.Temperatures are expected to rise again, although not as much as these days, reaching values somewhat above the usual for this time of the year.
