Grandvalira scales positions in the world ranking of resorts in terms of the volume of ski days, according to the International report on Mountain Tourism 2016 , published today. The report, prepared one more year by Swiss consultant Laurent Vanat, places Grandvalira at the top of the ranking in number of skiers during last season.
The Andorran domain is in the top 16 of a total of more than 2,000 resorts in 68 countries around the world. Regarding the 2014-15 season, the largest resort in southern Europe rises 3 positions in the ranking prepared by the Swiss expert. In recent years Grandvalira has occupied the top 20 (2014 publication) and top 19 (2015 publication) with 1,480,000 and 1,615,321 ski passes, respectively.
In the online version published by the Swiss expert, Grandvalira is the only resort in southern Europe located among the first 50 resorts analyzed. The study also reveals that the Andorran domain remains above other recognized and traditional resorts such as Sestriere (top 17), Soelden (18), Alpe d'Huez (21), Tignes (22) or Zermatt (24).
La Plagne continues one more year at the top of the classification, exceeding 2 million days of skiing, followed by Austrian resorts such as Saalbach Hinterglemm or Ski Welt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental.
