RTVE's star contest chooses the beauty of the landscape of the Grau Roig ski area and the culinary tradition of Andorra for the outdoor test to be broadcast on April 18.
RTVE's star program will take the outdoor test to the Grau Roig ski area of Grandvalira in the broadcast this Tuesday, April 18 on La 1 at 22:05 hours.
The aspirants will have to prepare a high mountain menu prepared by La Rioja chef Francis Paniego, who has 2 Michelin stars and 3 Repsol suns, and since 2019 advises the Sport Hotel Hermitage & Spa located directly on the slopes in Soldeu.
The program recorded in Andorra will feature special diners from different fields. Olympic skier Joan Verdú and Dakar driver Albert Llovera are two of the Andorran elite athletes who have not wanted to miss the opportunity to participate in a program of this nature, as well as the riders of the Dakar Rally in Andorra.Andorra-based MotoGP riders Aleix and Pol Espargaró, as well as youtuber Guillermo Díaz, better known as Willyrex.
Chef Francis Paniego is the special guest of the event, with Joan Verdú, Albert Llovera, the Espargaró brothers and Willyrex among the diners.
The chefs Josep Maria Kao, owner of Kao Soldeu, among others, and José Antonio Guillermo Velaz, from the Odetti Bistro restaurant in Escaldes-Engordany, have also been luxury diners.
This is the second time that MasterChef counts on Andorra for one of the outdoor tests. The program already chose the Hermitage Hotel in Soldeu for the recording of one of the outdoor tests of the third edition, broadcast in 2015.
In this sense, the great culinary proposal that exists in the country is made clear. Andorran gastronomy is characterized by high mountain flavors, marked by the season and the products of the area, as well as by the influences of neighboring cuisines, which make it a unique and exclusive cuisine.
Since last year and with the aim of making it known outside our borders, Andorra Taste is organized, an annual international meeting of high mountain gastronomy that brings together presentations by chefs from the country and around the world and also has a popular side, with tastings and showcookings in the street.
The Grandvalira resort alone has 60 catering establishments, including high-level proposals that have already become icons of the resort, such as the restaurant Llac de Pessons in Grau Roig, the Wine & Meat Bar by Jean Leon in the Soldeu ski area, the CBbC Costa Rodona in Pas de la Casa or L'Abarset in Tarter.
MasterChef is the star program of Radio Televisión Española, produced in collaboration with Shine Iberia. The eleventh edition of the culinary contest has a new format this year with double the number of contestants and a double weekly broadcast. The contest gives 30 aspirants the opportunity to show their talent in the kitchen with challenges that test their creativity and culinary knowledge, and which are later judged by chefs Jordi Cruz, Samantha Vallejo-Nágera and Pepe Rodríguez. At stake are 100,000 euros, the opportunity to publish a recipe book and take a Master's Degree in Technical Cuisine and Product.
The edition recorded in Grandvalira will be broadcasted on Tuesday, April 18 at 10:05 pm.
