Gourette brings forward the closing of its ski season to this Sunday

The ski resort of Gourette has announced its season closure for this coming Sunday, April 2. It is thus 10 days ahead of schedule and remains at the gates of Easter.

The snow conditions were already quite complicated these days, and the rise in temperatures and the absence of snowfall, has ended up reducing the situation. This week is putting into operation 6 lifts for 5 kilometres of slopes, with thicknesses that reach 100 centimeters, but that transforms with the passing of the hours.

In Gourette the situation was already in full spring.

There will have been 83 days of ski season opening, as reflected in infonieve.es, with thicknesses that have reached two meters of snow, but with snowfall that came late, which forced to close for more than two weeks after the end of Christmas.

The school holiday period, on the other hand, worked very well, with five weeks of good snow, ideal conditions for skiing and full occupancy of accommodations.

The winter resort of Gourette will temporarily say goodbye and return in a few weeks as a mountain and outdoor activity center. This summer, the Bézou cable car will be open for access to mountain biking, hiking and mountain picnics.

Along with Gourette, Grand Toourmalet and Saint-Lary will also close as scheduled in their season calendar. With the closure of these three ski resorts, the French Pyrenees is left with only four winter resorts available, in the absence of any of them announcing their closure.

The ski resort of La Pierre Saint Martin in Pyrénées-Atlantiques will close on April 10, while in Hautes-Pyrénées, Piau-Engaly and Cauterets will close the following day, April 11.
