Seven resorts in the French Pyrenees are still open for skiing this first weekend of Easter.
However, three of them will close this Sunday, April 2: Gourette, Grand Tourmalet (Barèges, La Mongie) and Saint-Lary-Soulan.
By then, only four slopes will remain in operation: La Pierre Saint-Martin, which has announced the cessation of activity for April 10; Piau Engaly, which will do so one day later, on April 11, coinciding with the end of Easter, and Cauterets and Pic du Midi, which want to extend the ski season until April 23.
The last snowfall in Cauterets
Unlike other parts of the French Pyrenees, where the snow has been more sparse and the heat has been very tight, such as l'Ariege or the Pyrénées Orientales, in the Hautes-Pyrénées - where Cauterets and Pic du Midi are located - the snowfall has been more generous, enough to keep their lifts rolling.
Cauterets informed this Wednesday through its social networks that "we still have many good moments to enjoy on the boards, the resort will be open until April 23".
