Boí Taüll ski resort continues its investment of 25 million euros

1 From December to April

The Boi Taüll ski resort has received an investment of 1.8 million euros for investments this summer for the next ski season. The resort, owned by the company Actius de Muntanya and managed by the public company Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) has worked mainly on improving the snow production system.

This investment of almost 2 million euros, fall within the Boí Taull Master Plan approved in 2020 to invest 25 million euros over 10 years.

Under this program, important actions have been carried out, such as the asphalting of the main car park lot, which since last winter shows a completely renovated image, with spaces for marked vehicles and others for motorhomes. The investment now offers much more comfort to skiers and snowboarders, who no longer have to deal with the slush that used to form when the snow melted.

The Puigfalcó area, which was accessed by a fixed clamp chairlift that stopped frequently when the wind blew, was also improved. Now, the Erta chairlift replaces the two-people , a device that under the name of Telesquí Puigfalcó withstands wind gusts much better, allowing the area to be open almost all season long.

The investment plan of Boí Taull this summer has had several actions, one of the main ones has been to improve the snow production system. From Actius de Muntanya it is detailed that this 2023:

"Many of the investments are aimed at improving snow production. Not so much because of the mild temperatures, but because of the eventuality of precipitation. There are periods when precipitation drops ostensibly, as is happening this year. The fact of producing snow with the water stored in our own reservoirs located in the ski resort allows us to have the slopes with a minimum amount of snow that allows skiing.

The weather is changing and is not as uniform as in previous years. Although we have the advantage of being one of the highest resorts in the Pyrenees, with the facilities above the 2,000-meter elevation."

Another of the actions for next season is a new service building in front of the main car park lot, for ski and snowboard equipment rental. The investment, of 352,600 €, was necessary after the significant increase in visitors this season. The aim is to reduce waiting times, especially on certain days during the Christmas period and on weekends that coincide with school white weeks.

The slopes have also been vegetated and leveled. The objective, in addition to being able to ski with less snow thickness, is to facilitate the work of the grooming machines, which translates into a reduction of working hours and carbon footprint.

From December to April

If nothing goes wrong this year, it will be open for the Immaculate Conception Bridge, although if the conditions are right, we do not rule out opening a week earlier. The closing of the season is planned for Easter, which this year falls at the end of March 2024.

In a normal season, the ski resort of Boí Taull generates 350 jobs, counting the ski lift and slopes staff, who are about 100 people, to which are added about 80 jobs in restoration. The rest of the professionals working in the winter resort are instructors and security guards.

A 2,750-meter mountain to which access has been allowed thanks to the Puigfalcó ski lift.
