Ultimate guide to après-skiing in Grandvalira

Andorra

Definitive guide to après-ski in Grandvalira

Take note of the best après-ski in Grandvalira! Because if you thought that the best of Grandvalira were its 215 kilometres of slopes, get ready, because you are about to discover that the real party starts just when the lifts stop turning.

At Esquiades.com we're big fans of making the most of the day, but we also know that there's nothing like kicking off your boots, ordering a round of beers with friends and letting the music do the rest.

Andorra has become the winter entertainment capital of the Pyrenees, and today we bring you the definitive guide so that you don't miss a single "hot track" in the largest ski area in southern Europe. Open the runway, we're going to party!

The epicenter of Après Ski in Andorra is in Grandvalira

If there is one place where the après-ski concept has taken on a new dimension, it is Grandvalira. It's no longer just about having a quick drink before going back to the hotel; now we're talking about real daily festivals directly on the slopes.

From ski slopes to mountain clubs

After skiing in Grandvalira, you have to visit ski areas such as El Tarter, Soldeu or Pas de la Casa, as they change radically from 16:00 onwards. The terraces that at noon served hamburgers and sandwiches are filled with DJs, confetti cannons and giant LED screens. It's that transition where you go from being focused on your carving technique to trying not to fall while dancing with your ski riding on. The energy is contagious!

The international atmosphere and leisure culture in the Principality.

Andorra has been able to attract people from all over the world. On the same terrace you can be toasting with a group of English people, sharing a table with French people and laughing with people from Madrid or Barcelona. The Principality is no longer just "the country of shopping", it is the country where the party has no borders.

L'Abarset: The Après-ski temple in El Tarter

If you talk about partying in Grandvalira, you have to talk about L'Abarset. It's not a bar, it's not a disco... it's an institution. After its renovation a couple of seasons ago, today it is one of the best places of its kind in Europe.

The visual experience of the new L'Abarset

Located at the base of the El Tarter ski area, the new building is an architectural work of art in wood and stone that blends in perfectly with its surroundings, but with a modern and futuristic touch .

Its terrace is immense and has a sound and lighting system that many clubs in Ibiza would like.

Programming of international DJs

Names that you would see at festivals such as Tomorrowland or Sonar pass through its booth , with DJs who master from elegant house to the most forceful techno. Artists such as Wade, Fatboy Slim or Claptone have been there. A guaranteed party!

Reservations, VIP tables and the mountain dress code

Although you can enter directly after skiing, L'Abarset fills up quickly (very quickly!). If you are a group and want to ensure a comfortable place, the ideal is to book a VIP table.

The dress code is "mountain chic" style: ski boots and technical jackets are accepted, of course, but more and more people are coming down to the hotel to change into their winter finery (furry boots, designer hats and trendy sunglasses).

Pas de la Casa: The party that never sleeps

Pas de la Casa is the energy of après-slu in Grandvalira. It is the preferred ski area for the younger public and party lovers. Being close to the French border, you will find a more international and, why not say it: a little hooligan.

Iconic pubs and bars

Pas de la Casa is full of pubs and bars. You have the mythical Underground, where the party goes on until late, or the Coll Blanc, with spectacular views. Here the atmosphere is more informal and the goal is only one: to have a good time without complications.

Why Pas de la Casa is a favourite destination for the international public

Most of the accommodation in Pas de la Casa is directly on the slopes, which means you can leave the bar and get to your bed in two minutes (a relief for many). This attracts thousands of university students and groups of friends from all over Europe looking to make the most of the day and "night" passes.

On Esquiades.com we discover you the best hotels directly on the slopes in Grandvalira.

The route of the "shots

In Pas de la Casa, après-ski usually involves jumping from bar to bar trying different shots and beers. It is a different, social and extremely fun plan. Of course, from Esquiades.com we recommend you to keep track... because the next day the slopes are waiting for you at 9:00!

Gourmet experiences at altitude

Not all après-ski in Grandvalira is dancing until you can't feel your feet. If you want something more exclusive, romantic or sophisticated, you'll be pleased to know that this resort also offers plans that look like something out of a movie.

Piolet Restaurant and the magic of dinners on retrac or snowmobiles

Can you imagine having dinner in a restaurant in the middle of the mountain when the resort has already closed? In places like Piolet (Grau Roig) you can do it. They pick you up in a retrac (snow groomer) or on snowmobiles and take you up under a blanket of stars. It is a magical experience, ideal for couples or groups who want a premium dinner.

Vodka Bar

Also located in Grau Roig, the Vodka Bar is pure sophistication. Designed by Lázaro Rosa-Violán, it offers an intimate atmosphere with a fireplace, dark woods and an impressive selection of cocktails and vodkas. It is the perfect place for a relaxing après-ski after an intense day of skiing.

La Trattoria and other spots for a relaxing après-ski

If your thing is a good homemade pizza or a quality pasta accompanied by a good wine while you comment on the slopes of the day, areas such as El Tarter or Soldeu have places like La Trattoria or Sol i Neu. They are places where the luxury is in the tranquility and good taste.

IQOS Terrace and other charming terraces in Soldeu

Soldeu has always had that British and distinguished air that makes it unique in Andorra. Here, après-ski is experienced on terraces that look like something out of a decorating magazine, where the service is impeccable and the music accompanies the sunset.

A more sophisticated and relaxed après-ski profile

In Soldeu you won't find people jumping on the tables in the early hours of the morning. Here the plan is different: a good sofa, a blanket and a quality drink. It is the favourite place for couples and groups of friends who want to discuss the day with a more relaxed and elegant touch.

Cocktails with a view of the mythical Avet wall.

One of the well-known spots is the IQOS Terrace. Its location is perfect: you have a panoramic view of the Soldeu platform and, above all, of the mythical wall of the Avet piste, one of the jewels of the World Cup.

Sipping a signature cocktail while watching the last skiers go down that vertical slope is a priceless spectacle.

Alternative activities: It's not all about partying (or is it?)

What if one day you don't feel like loud music or want a different plan? Andorra is the country of endless possibilities and après-ski is very varied. We tell you all about it!

The Magic Gliss at night

If you feel like speed, you have to try the Magic Gliss in the Canillo ski area. It is a 555-meter downhill mountain toboggan run that, at certain times of the year, opens at night.

Caldea and thermo ludism as the ultimate après-ski

We cannot talk about Andorra without mentioning Caldea. It is the temple of water and, for many, the best après-ski in the world. You can get out of skiing with your legs in tatters and get into an outdoor lagoon with thermal water at 34°C while some snowflakes fall on your head. Great plan!

Shopping in Andorra la Vella

For some, Andorra's national sport is not skiing, but shopping. Going down to Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany in the afternoon is a classic. You can walk along Meritxell Avenue in search of the latest in electronics, perfumery or sports fashion to find competitive prices.

How to enjoy après-ski with head

At Esquiades.com we want you to have a great time, but we also want you to return safely to your hotel. Organizing a good après-ski requires a little bit of logistics to avoid unnecessary scares and hangovers.

Bus and shuttle service between ski areas

If you're going to drink (even a little), forget the car. Andorra has a network of buses (L2, L3, L4) that connect Grandvalira's ski areas with the main villages. In addition, during special events in L'Abarset, shuttles are often available. Find out the schedules before starting the second round so you don't get "stranded" in a ski area that is not yours.

Strategic accommodation

If you are sure that partying is your thing, try to book your hotel in El Tarter or Pas de la Casa. Being able to walk from the bar terrace to your bed is a luxury that you will be infinitely grateful for.

What you should know about dehydration in the mountains

Warning for skiers: alcohol hits harder at altitude. The atmospheric pressure and dry mountain air make you dehydrate much faster. Add to that the physical exertion of the whole day, and one beer can make you feel like three.

Our tip: Drink a glass of water for every glass of alcohol. Your head will thank you at 8 a.m. when you hit the slopes.

FAQ: Frequently asked questions about après-ski in Grandvalira

Which is the best ski area for partying?

It depends on what you are looking for. If you want great DJs and a festival atmosphere, El Tarter (L'Abarset). If you are looking for young partying, pubs and international atmosphere until the early hours of the morning, Pas de la Casa. If you prefer something sophisticated and chic, Soldeu.

Is it necessary to make bookings in the trendiest places?

In L'Abarset it is almost obligatory if you want a VIP table or to secure entrance on days of very famous DJs. For high altitude dinners (such as at the Vodka Bar or Piolet), you have to book in advance.

What time does après-ski start and finish in Andorra?

It usually starts as soon as the slopes close (around 16:00 - 16:30). The piste terraces usually last until 20:00 or 21:00. If you want to continue, you will have to move to the pubs in the villages or to the discos in Pas de la Casa or Andorra la Vella, which close much later.

And so much for our guide to après-ski in Grandvalira! Now it's time for you to get to know our ski deals in Grandvaliraand that you also check the Grandvalira ski slopes before leaving.

As you can see, in Grandvalira the day is long and the options are endless. There is only one thing missing... to be there!
