Resort Closed
The ski resort of La Molina is located in the Cerdanya, a region of the Catalan Pyrenees. A pioneer in winter sports, it was the first station in Spain to install a mechanical lift, in 1943. More than seventy years later La Molina has become a modern and innovative station that has a wide range of sports and leisure activities to satisfy the tastes of all.
It has been the venue for major events and has a long history in the high international competition that endorses the quality of the slopes and facilities of La Molina. These competitions are the Alpine Ski World Cup (2008), the Snowboard World Championships (2011) or the Alpine Ski World Championship for the disabled (2013).
Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy 68 km of skiing divided into 63 tracks for all levels. The maximum height of this magnificent Catalan station is 2,445 m and the minimum height of 1,700 m, La Molina in the heights offers views that combines the forest with bare mountains.
Why ski in La Molina?
If you are a beginner and want to learn how to slide on the snow, this Catalan station has 13 ski and snowboard schools. Also, if you are more experienced there are professionals who can teach you freestyle and telemark techniques. Once you have acquired the basic knowledge, dare to throw yourself through its 18 green and 19 blue tracks. You will find them in the sectors of Pista Llarga, Trampolí and Coll de Pal, these are very wide and you will see how it is not difficult for you to descend through them.
But if instead you are a more experienced skier / snowboarder the station La Molina puts into practice your skills and techniques through 19 red and 7 black tracks. It also offers an initiation snowpark and a large one, with the largest halfpipe in the whole Pyrenees!

What activities can be practiced in La Molina?

How to get to La Molina?
To get to this resort you have different possibilities to get there. You can do it:
- By Train: Línia R3 Hospitalet de Llobregat - Vic - Ripoll - Puigcerdà - La Tour de Carol Parada de La Molina (Rodalies of Catalonia). And from the station you can take a bus that runs every 30/15 min to the ski station.
- By plane: this possibility must be combined with other means of transport (car, motorcycle or bus). The nearest airports are: Barcelona - El Prat Airport (at 166 km), Girona-Costa Brava Airport (at 127 km) and Cerdanya's sport aerodrome (at 16 km)
- In Skibus: from Wednesday to Friday you can take Skibus service, the departures are from Barcelona, Sabadell, Terrassa and Manresa.
- By car: from Barcelona it lasts 2 hours and 9 minutes, you must take Take B-10 from Via Laietana, Plaça de Pau Vila, Carrer del Dr. Aiguader and Exit 22, then you must take E-9 from C-16, continue on E-9 and take GI-400 towards Carrer Costa Rasa in La Molina.

They should never close lift Fontcanaleta! It was mentioned by one of the instructors that it was close to save energy (money). And that specific lift is very important because it gives the opportunity to experience a bit more of the tracks without having to endangering yourself on the red tracks!

Está bien, hay variedad de pistas para los distintos niveles.
El transporte entre las pocas pistas abierta y la estación de tren es pésimo, entiendo que haya poca afluencia, pero los horarios no están claros para nadie y aún así el tiempo entre un bus y otro es muy largo. Dado justamente que la temporada ha sido muy baja, hay que mantener contentos a los pocos clientes que deciden ir a gastar su dinero allí. Afortunadamente los conductores eran muy amables e incluso pude acordar horas flexibles con alguno de ellos.
No pude apreciar el lugar en su plenitud por la poca nieve, que no es para nada culpa del personal, la nieve no ha colaborado. Aún así todos los trabajadores hacen lo posible por prestar un buen servicio.

Solo había nieve en cotas altas pero la calidad de la misma nos sorprendió porque era bastante buena para las temperaturas que estábamos teniendo.
Faltaban zonas verdes para principiantes y se acumulaba mucha gente en los remontes porque había pocos abiertos.

Las pistas y servicios muy buenos. Pero mencionar la gran amabilidad y atención del chico de los frankfurts y de la chica de las creps. Son un ehemplo de como un trabajo se puede hacer siempre con una gran sonrisa y con muchísima amabilidad!!!!

Hay mucho aparcamiento.
Muchas cosas... En las vías principales había que remar mucho para alcanzar los remontes. Muchos remontes eran lentos (no desembragables), además los telesillas no eran de muchas plazas. Tampoco funcionaban bien los lectores de forfaits y había que pelearse con el torno para poder pasar.
Fuimos a recoger los forfaits en el edificio del telecabina (siguiendo las instrucciones de Esquiades) y tras hacer 20 minutos de cola no despacha sin atendernos y nos envían a las oficinas centrales a por los forfaits. A continuación nos dan un vale para recoger el material, hacemos la cola del material y uno de los trabajadores del alquiler de material nos indica que avancemos sin cola directamente a recogerlo ya que no teníamos que pagar. Lo hacemos y una vez dentro un trabajador muy poco amable y menos diligente nos despacha diciendo que se ha equivocado su compañero y que no nos va a atender hasta volver a hacer la cola de nuevo. Un impresentable.
La nieve en un principio bien, pero en poco tiempo aparecían placas divertidas de hielo por debajo de la pista. Hacia las 2 y media la nieve ya se volvía pastosa.

Entre semana se está muy bien porque no hay apenas gente y no hay colas en los telesillas.
En el telesillas de Pista Llarga, se mete todo el mundo (principiantes, avanzados y los que se acaban de poner los esquis...), hay que tener paciencia pero también ser conscientes de que todos queremos subir.

La estación es muy bonita y tiene bastantes pistas de calidad.
El hecho de que las pistas no sean del mismo color en toda su extensión. Hay pistas que empiezan en azul luego pasan a rojo (casi negro) y luego terminan en verde. Muchas pistas terminan en verdes casi planas lo que las vuelve un infierno para los snowboarders. Uno de los días ha nevado bastante por la noche y la estación no hizo el mínimo esfuerzo por abrir más que las pistas verdes de abajo, sin que hubiera viento o niebla.

Está muy bien cuidada, un 10 a los profesores de la Escuela Traça, hemos aprendido mucho en muy poco tiempo.
En los remontes no hay señales de los pasos a seguir para subir y bajar, esto es importante sobretodo para las personas que no han ido nunca, principiantes.

YA CONOZCO LAS PISTAS, ESTAN BIEN, PERO ESTARIA BIEN PODER COGER EL FORFAIT COMBINADO MOLINA+MASSELLA DESDE VUESTRA WEB
LA NO INFORMACIÓN PREVIA DE QUE LAS PISTAS CERRABAN EL DIA 25 A LES 13 HORAS. PAGUÉ 2 FORFAITS ENTEROS Y EL PRECIO DEL DIA 25 EN PISTAS ERA REDUCIDO

No me han dejado subir en telecabina para ver las vistas. Para acceder a la pista larga desde donde alquilamos el equipamiento (LaMolina) era un poco lejos

El mapa de pistes a vegades crea confusió (si pots enllaçar una pista amb una altra)
Lack of information collection packages purchased online Some of the tracks are not marked with the name map courts sometimes creates confusion (if you can link a track to another)

Bons remontadors ràpids
A la mínima que ha fet una mica de mal temps, han tancat la majoria de remontadors incloint algunes zones que donava més la sensació d'estar tancades per estalvi de costos que no pas per mal temps.

At least that made some bad weather closed most lifts including some areas that gave more the feeling of being closed by cost savings than by bad weather.

Mucha gente. Cerradas pistas por viento, largas colas. No te enteras hasta que te toca el turno. Quizás hubiera faltado alguien informando en la cola para no hacer la cola para nada.
Many people. Closed tracks wind, long queues. Do not whole until your turn. Perhaps someone had missed reporting in line to do not queue for anything.

Excelente centro de esqui.
Desorganizacion a la hora de reoger el forfet. Lo teniamos pre pago y tardamos una hora. Nos salia a cuento comprarlo en el momento en ventanilla. Mucho mas agil. A ver si eso lo mejoran.
Excellent ski resort.
Disorganization reoger when the ski pass. We had pre-paid and took an hour. We went out to buy story window at the time. Much more agile. Let's see if that improves.

El transporte de la estación de tren a pistas es muy bueno, el conductor muy amable y se puede prescindir del coche en todo momento.
Mucho tiempo de espera para que nos dieran el Forfait que teníamos reservado.
Transport train station tracks is very good, very friendly driver and can do without the car at all times.
Long wait to give us the levy we had booked.

La estación es muy pequeña y las instalaciones son antiguas. La mayoria de las pistas estaban cerradas, y las que estaban abiertas tenian un montón de roca. Por el precio del forfait no merece la pena en absoluto.
The station is very small and the facilities are old. Most of the tracks were closed, and those that were open had a lot of rock. Ski pass for the price not worth it at all.
