Information about Formigal

Formigal is located in the Tena Valley, with splendid sorroundings and it is located in the North of the province of Huesca. But if anything characterises this beautiful resort in the Aragonese Pyrenees, is the environment. Furthermore, its great atmosphere, both on the slopes and après-ski. In Spain, it is considered one of the leading and youthful resorts thanks to the wide amount of activities offered.

 

Formigal

 

The Formigal ski resort has 137 skiable kilometres and is divided into four different areas: one is dedicated to beginners (Sextas), another sector where the slopes are for experts (Izas/Sarrios), the best sector for families is Anayet which has access to the most fun parts of the resort (Portalet). More than 70% of the nearly hundred tracks of the resort are red or black (71 of 97), although those who are don't feel ready to go down these kind of slopes can have as much adrenaline and fun by descending the 7 green slopes and 19 blue slopes available. So, Formigal can be a white paradise for both beginners and experts. 

 

Services

 

The resort offers ski hire. In any of their stores you can hire or buy poles, skis, snowboards, boots and skiing clothes. In addition, if you or any of your companions want to learn how to ski, you can book ski or snowboard lessons that are offered by the school that has more than 40 years of experience. It has a wide range of professionals qualified by the Spanish Ski School Committee and the Spanish Winter Sports Federation. The minimum age to be able to take lessons is 4 years old.

 

As already mentioned, Formigal is for everyone, and if you are a mom or a dad, the resort has three nurseries. Inside them, you can leave children where they will be taken care of while you enjoy skiing.

 

Activities

 

Formigal has a wide variety of bars and restaurants that offer exquisite cuisine at your disposal. But, let's face it, if you're one of those skiers that loves partying, Formigal could be your resort. Ski fans do not usually go out, because on the next day they have to be in perfect conditions to be able to ski and some skiers are not willing to miss the best snow conditions during the first morning hours. However, Formigal offers a great option: Marchica (located in the Sextas sector), which opens from 3 pm to 9 pm and offers live music, drink and food.

 

At the Formigal urbanisation and at the same resort, visitors will be able to find many restaurants where they can relax and enjoy a nice meal.

 

How to get to Formigal?

 

Formigal is 493 kilometres from Madrid, 370 kilometres from Barcelona and 165 kilometres from Pamplona. Driving there is quite simple, and you can get there by bus or car. To get to Formigal by road from Huesca, follow the A-23 motorway to the E-7 and then continue up the N-330, passing Sabiñánigo. Then take the N-260 to Biescas and pass through the A-136 to Formigal.

 

If you come from further away and intend to arrive by plane, the nearest airport is in France, Pau, just 66 kilometres from Formigal. In Spain, the nearest airports are Huesca (102 kilometres), Pamplona airport (160 km) and Zaragoza airport (165 km). From there you can continue by road to the resort.

 

If you want to forget the car and prefer getting the train, the nearest train station is in Sabiñanigo, 35 kilometres from Formigal. There you can get on a bus that connects with the resort. The Aramón Group, the company that manages the resort also provides a bus service called the White Bus, connecting some cities of northern Spain with Formigal.
