The Astún Valley ski resort is located in the Aragonese Pyrenees, exactly in the municipality of Jaca. This snow destination owes its popularity to its privileged orientation, which protects the tracks from strong currents of wind, and its terrain, since its slopes are covered with natural grass, which ensures the presence of snow from the first days of the season.

As for its technical data, Astún has a total of 60 ski slopes of all levels, and a total of 50 km ski area. In addition, another of the attractions of the station is that all the tracks converge at the same point: the core of the station.

Why ski in Astún?

This Aragonese station of great beauty has tracks for all levels. Also, their tracks are known as the white highways, as they are very, very wide and fast.

If you are a debutant, the perfect area for you will find it in the middle part of the station. It is little traveled, so you can learn calmly and without fear of colliding with another skier. In total, you have at your disposal 5 green and 18 blue tracks for when you already know how to handle your skis.

Astún is a station that hooks: from all the ski lifts there is always some blue track that goes down to the base of the station. If your level is intermediate or you are more experienced, 21 red and 6 black tracks are ready to challenge you. All of them are spacious and well signposted, so you will enjoy a lot.

And that's not all: the ski station of Astún has 10 itineraries of heart attack. You know that they are? Well, from Esquiades.com we are going to clarify it to you: the itineraries are tracks that are not marked (that is to say, that are not stepped by the machines nor by skiers). We recommend that you go down here in a group for more security.

What services does Astún offer at the foot of the slopes?

This station of the Aragonese Pyrenees offers all the necessary services for the visitor:

- A great area for sledding: so that you slide down the slope and you feel like a child or so that your children enjoy the snow in another way.

- 2 ski schools: as if you want to start in the world of skiing, or if you want to improve your technique. Astún offers 100 teachers so they can help you in the skiing and snow mode.

- If you do not have skis or a snowboard to start your snow day, you have to choose between 5 sports shops and equipment rental, as well as a supermarket at the foot of the slopes, in case you want to buy your own food or to prepare it in your apartment.

- To recharge your energy reserves, we recommend that you visit the cafeteria-restaurant, with a terrace with an impressive solarium and wonderful views. And to drink something between going down and going down with friends, you have two bars, also with a terrace.

What should you keep in mind when traveling to Astún?

All the passes are delivered in a hands-free card format, for which a deposit of € 3 / card will be required, this amount will be refunded at the time the card is returned.

Children aged between 0 and 5 years old (included) have to pay € 12 at the ticket office of the ski resort for ski pass, ski insurance and a menu (equivalent to half adult menu, approximately). In addition, they will have to pay, as adults, the 3 € deposit for the pass card (you must prove with an official document the age of the child at the box office).

It is still the family season during the week without stress to ski quietly and keep learning.
That the restaurants of the upper levels are closed on many occasions

The truth is that it made us bad weather and we could not take advantage of the entire season but all chairlifts and tracks that we took were very good, I will go back to the station.
The restaurants are scarce and expensive. The access from the main road, are about 2 km but it is very bad, many potholes and holes.

It seems incredible that they do not fix the access road to the parking lot of the Astún station, it is constantly full of potholes and holes, they do not show great interest in fixing it or facilitating access, especially when there is snow. It is a pity that the relationship between Candanchu and Astún has been broken in terms of combining the stations with a single pass, is detrimental to the service to have a better station with more km of tracks.

Few people (but there was bad weather); a lot of off-piste with optimal snow
Small station, which the pass does not apply to Candanchu, although for a weekend it is not bad; most of the old ski lifts

That is not linked to Candanchu. If they do not join the domains, it is small for a week of skiing. Ski lift of two very old. We had to review a chair all day closed, should warn and lower the price for the inconvenience.

A station with high quality of tracks and levels. The attention of the staff is spectacular. The catering services are good and nice at a good price.

Despite the amount of people there, the lifts moved fast. We did not do more than 5/10 minutes of waiting.

Variety of blue tracks Very nice teachers and professionals, making the most of the time you are with them The days of the week is very empty, especially in the afternoon
Few green tracks Many tracks are frozen or with an immense amount of snow (when it snows). When I say immense I say that you have to take off your skis, carry them and walk with the snow overcoming the knees and there is no information about their condition, you can only discover it by pulling on them and if you find that it is a disaster, as its director said ... "is what there is".

Good season It was heavily stamped in the first hour.
No covered or closed picnic area. The access from the national to astun is FATAL full of gaps in the road. Two chairlifts that lack a bit of speed.
