This is known as Austria’s largest glacier at the height of 3.210 metres. It has 26 modern cable car and lift facilities and is about a 45-minute drive from Innsbruck. This ski area is ideal for intermediates and keen beginners as its 36 slopes range from easy to somewhat more demanding.
This ski area is 19 km from Innsbruck and its slopes spread across 40 km of perfectly groomed snow and they are ideal for those in search for some action.
Perfect for a family ski holiday, the Skizentrum Schlick 2000 ski area is only 15 minutes from Innsbruck and offers a great selection of restaurants and cosy lodges where you can make your pit-stop to recharge.
Many of you may have heard about this ski area as it’s the highest one in Austria and therefore, offers you the purest snow conditions. So, if you’re visiting this ski area, you can book with total peace of mind knowing that the snow is guaranteed. If you’re into less crowded and wide slopes, this is the place for you. Here you’ll find a total of 39 kilometres of pistes and is considered to be the winter paradise for families as its host to loads of different events. Its children’s programmes are also fantastic.
If you’re looking for a cosy ski resort to visit with your family, Mutterer Alm is perfect for you. Here there are 15 km of slopes with lengths between 700 and 4.200 metres. Great if you want something laidback where the kids can gain confidence on the snow.
This is the place for top quality skiing as here you get to enjoy the magnificent views of Wipptal. You can also give night skiing a go as there are a total of 9 km of illuminated slopes.
This ski resort is a must-visit as it is the jewel of the Alps. Here is Austria’s largest nature park, located a short walk away from the old town. This ski area is only 20 minutes from Innsbruck and the ski pass gives you access to the Seegrubenbahn that will take you to the very top of the mountain from where you have impressive views of the capital of the Alps as well as Karwendel Nature Park.
This ski area is ideal for families, beginners and also if you’re feeling rusty and want to get reacquainted with skiing and snowboarding as the runs are mostly blue.
You can get to this ski resort by car. There’s a 20 minute drive from Innsbruck to the Elferbahnen Valley station where you take the Elferbahn to the slopes. Here there’s a platform with the largest sundial in the Alps.
The ski resort is 1.674 metres above Innsbruck and only a 10-minute drive from the city centre. It’s known for being family-friendly and offers a variety of pistes, which is great if you’re travelling with skiers and snowboarders of different levels.
This ski resort is what you want to find if you’re looking for some winter fun with friends and family. The runs range from easy to medium level across a total of 17 kilometres. Here you’ll also find a 10 km toboggan run!
This ski resort is new from season 2020/2021. If you ski here you’ll get the chance to take in the beautiful mountain landscape whilst descending down well-groomed runs.

The trains are operated by OBB (Osterreichische Bundesbahnen), aka Austrian Federal Railways and you can check travel times, prices and purchase the tickets directly on their site.
