The chairlift of the Coll de Pal in La Molina is almost ready

This week the installation works for the Coll de Pal chairlift at the La Molina ski resort have been completed . Despite complying with all relevant bureaucratic and environmental procedures, the work has been denounced to the European Commission by the Salvem el Coll de Pal platform.

Salvem the Coll de Pal denounces the project of the chairlift of the Coll de Pal in the European Union. The works, however, have been completed this week and were authorized since 2008. Although they meet the requirements and approval of the environmental monitoring commission - with members of the municipalities affected, the ski resort, the park Natural, Diputación de Barcelona and Department of Territory and Sustainability - the aforementioned entity, environmentally sensitive, has denounced them to the European Commission.

From the La Molina resort, its director, Xavier Perpinyà, in statements to the ACN (Agència Catalana de Notícies) has made it clear that the action taken was what was already planned. The truth is that the works now denounced began in 2010 and that same year, as a result of the economic crisis of the moment, they were paralyzed.

Perpinyà has explained that to finish the return resort of the chairlift there has been a movement of lands, which will also facilitate the works of the future car park lot, promoted by the City Council of Bagà, and that a trench of about 800 cubic meters has been made. The director of La Molina points out that, unlike what opponents say, the work of the chairlift will not in any case increase the skiable domain.

The spokesman of Salvem el Coll de Pal, Ferran Canudas, said that a ditch has been built not planned and that for this reason an instance has been submitted to the City of Bagà. The entity, Canudas explains, has also denounced the project to the European Commission since, as they claim, there are breaches of two directives for Environmental Impact Assessment. They allege that they are acting in the area by dividing the projects and, therefore, studies of individual environmental impacts are being carried out and in no case contemplating the global damage that the area may suffer.

Apart from the car park lot promoted by the City Council of Bagà, the initial projects also contemplate finishing a two-storey service building very close to the ski lift, also paralyzed in 2010, and the construction of a water raft destined to supply the cannon network of Snow of the slopes.
