Snow has returned to the Sierra Nevada ski resort. Despite having to close today, due to weather conditions, the slopes team and machinists are working hard with the intention of expanding the number of slopes available for this weekend.
The recent snowfalls augur an expansion of open slopes for the weekend.
The first reports indicate that there are new thicknesses of around 15 and 20 centimeters at the base of the resort and in the middle altitudes, but in the higher areas the snowfall has been even more intense.
The images from the Sierra Nevada webcams reflect the abundance of the recent snowfall.
During the day today, strong winds have prevented the normal operation of the lifts, allowing large accumulations of snow in the windbreaks of the station. The machines will be able to use this large amount of snow to prepare the slopes and even open new ones and expand the offer of the ski area for the weekend, which until Monday consisted of 32 skiable kilometers on 44 slopes.
Both Tuesday and Wednesday the resort had to close due to the strong wind. The season in Sierra Nevada is being complicated, as in most ski resorts in Spain and Europe, so this snowfall is considered the best of the season so far.
