4 So, are you feeling up to booking a summer ski holiday in Les 2 Alpes?

As promised by Les 2 Alpes ski resort, the resort confirmed they were going to open before scheduled and were also going to offer other snow sports activities.

They have moved forward their opening dates, which used to be the middle of June. The good conditions of the glacier, the snowfalls that have been falling in these spring weeks, and the desire of many skiers to keep their skis on their feet, have been the main reasons why the ski resort has decided to open sooner.

These days for the moment, even the Toura ski area (up to 2600 meters) has been opened.

Jean-Charles Thomas, Director of the Les 2 Alpes ski area, has assured that the snow conditions are currently magnificent, and he hopes that the ski resort can be opened without problems until the end of July, perhaps a few days in August. Then everything closes to prepare for the autumn campaign, being one of the first resorts to open once the summer holidays have passed.

Duration of the summer ski season in Les 2 Alpes

Among the reasons that Thomas argues for this calendar change is that it is currently better to ski already in the month of May and June , than to open in the middle of next month and hold out until almost September.

"10 years ago we skied until August 30 in Les Deux Alpes, and this year we won't do it anymore. The entire calendar of competitive ski teams and clubs, which is the majority of our customers at the moment, has been changing dates, and us with them, so we will be skiing until mid-July or late July".

Other summer activities in Les 2 Alpes

The ski resort of Les Deux Alpes is also offering other activities such as mountain biking, but in terms of turnover, skiing has no competition, and despite the fact that the number of skiers drops enormously in these months, they still represent 60 % of lift sales during the summer. An activity that is still important.

It's for this reason that the ski resort will keep on working to improve the slopes so that they are suitable for the current weather conditions.

The opening times have also changed. The lifts will open at 7.30 am until 12.30 pm. You may find it super early but it's also when the snow is at its best.
