Vallnord closes its season with 680,000 ski days

Vallnord closed on April 15 the winter season 2011-2012 with 680,000 days of skiing, a figure that represents 10% less than last year. Even so, the Arcalís sector, which was the first station to open on December 3, has benefited from the lack of widespread rainfall and has increased its number of skiers by 15% compared to the previous season. The season of Vallnord closes with 135 days of season, the broadest record of the stations of the Pyrenees.

Proximity market
The Spanish market represents approximately 70% of Vallnord's customers. The occupation of these clients has increased by 5% in terms of weekend stays. Despite the difficult context, Andorra has been a guarantee option for this market, thanks to investments in cultivated snow and communication strategies, with the support of the Andorra Tourism campaign "Just Married".
The largest Spanish customer, mostly from Madrid and Valencia, has been reduced by 10% compared to last year. This skier profile has been more cautious and has opted for other alternatives or has not skied.

International markets
The British market has suffered a decline of 5% despite the commercial efforts made by Ski Andorra and Andorra Tourism in the United Kingdom. This market has been very sensitive to the perception of lack of snow and has opted for destinations such as Austria or France.

Regarding France, the graph remains stable compared to the last years. The objective for the future is to grow this market thanks to the opening of the Dos Valires tunnel, which will be operational next year.

Events
Vallnord has been the scene of great international competitions. All the planned tests have been played as normal, so that the schedule planned at the beginning of the season has been respected. The most outstanding tests have been the two Mountain Ski World Cups, which took place in January in Arinsal and Arcalis. But they also highlight unique events such as the Freeride Dorado, the Vallnord Speed Ride, or, in the freestyle mode, the Nike Chosen 6.0 and the Pata Negra.

Vallnord closes an irregular season, marked by the economic crisis and the lack of rainfall, but that has allowed to demonstrate the competitive advantages of the Andorran stations.

Summer season
