The French Pyrenees invest 15,000,000 in its ski resorts

The Confédération Pyrénéenne du Tourisme , which brings together 38 ski resorts in the French Pyrenees and 16 thermal centers, has invested 15 million euros for this season in which it turns 100 since its founding.

Last year, the 38 ski stations sold almost 5 million days of skiing last season , which is 9.4% more than the previous year. These data were the best season in its history . 10% of skiers arrived from the European continent itself and of them, 80% were Spanish .

How much was billed last season? 827 million is the tourist consumption figure offered by the Confederation. Of all this money, which corresponds to the turnover generated purely by the ski lifts amounts to 118 million . On the other hand, the thermal centers billed a total of 13.8 million euros.

What are the most important investments? This year the investment is significantly lower than last season in which 23.2 million euros were invested. This year in Ax-3 Domaines the second stretch of renovation of the sector is facing, two chairlifts for 3 lifts of last generation .

The “ Tourmalet 360 ” project is also underway, this project consists of remodeling and increasing the ski area with a total budget of 50 million euros.

Among the agenda of sporting events, it is worth highlighting the Freestyle World Cup , night races, Slopestyle competition and mountain ski races and even rugby tournaments in the snow . Nor do we forget the sled races, music festivals and various gastronomic shows.
