Grandvalira expands to 160 kilometers of skiable domain for Christmas

Christmas holidays are approaching, and Grandvalira faces this holiday season with a wide range of snow, gastronomy and activities for all audiences. Starting on Friday, December 20, skiers traveling to the Pyrenees country resort will have at their disposal a new access to the slopes located in the new Peretol sector, 1,960 in Bordes d'Envalira that opens its doors for the first time time adding 7 new tracks, 3 ski lifts and more skiable hectares at 210km that has the largest snow domain in southern Europe.

Thus, Grandvalira will have all sectors operational and connected by track with good conditions for the practice of snow sports, thicknesses ranging between 55 and 80 cm. The resort will have 160 skiable kilometers with 100 tracks and 65 ski lifts among which is the refurbished TSD6 of the Pla de les Pedres, an engineering challenge that has expanded its transport capacity to 128 chairs that allow up to 2,600 people per hour.

The revolutionary snowboard initiation program

The seven open sectors will have the wide range of services offered by the Ski and Snowboard Schools , among which is Burton Riglet as a great novelty, a revolutionary snowboarding program suitable from 3 years. In the hands of this American firm, it is a new way of learning that is introduced to the little ones with innovative and fun methods through the use of materials that are worked dry, inside the centers El Tarter sectors, Soldeu, Canillo and Pas de la Casa. On the other hand, we also work with materials that are used directly from the snow from the snow gardens of these sectors.

The program incorporates two age groups: from 3 to 5 years old and 6 to 12 years old. In addition, it is also part of the Kids Program and this Wednesday, December 18, has entered the schools with a dry pilot test aimed at about twenty students of the Andorran School of Canillo. The coordinators of Burton Riglet, Toni Rodríguez (director of the Ski and Snowboard School) and Enric Bonvehí (responsible for SnowPark and Freestyle Activities), explain about this new method that "we wanted to break the myth that says the age of initiation for snowboarding is 8-10 years old. A family Christmas

To live the family parties, Grandvalira receives one more year the visit of Santa Claus in the Ski and Snowboard Schools of the seven sectors of the resort. Among the activities, the traditional torch descent from the Pla d'Espiolets to the town of Soldeu, which will take place on December 31; the descent of lights in the Soldeu sector, on January 4, to which children take center stage and the descent of torches; and the arrival of the Magi to the Pas de la Casa sector, on January 5.

Special programming at Après-ski L'Abarset

L'Abarset becomes the epicenter of Christmas après-ski in the Pyrenees with a special program until January 5 that will place El Tarter on the musical scene of the best parties, with visits by internationally renowned DJs. On Friday, December 20, the special programming will begin with Viviana Casanova and for the last weekend of 2019, L'Abarset has scheduled the Grand National session. On Friday 27 there will be exclusive performances by local DJs Richy Vuelcom b2b Kyke Carbonell, Aka Yun Mate, Anderground Music and John Holt; and Saturday 28 will be the turn of the revolutionary Valencian DJ Mike Gannu.

First anniversary of l'Après Amélie

Après Amélie, which was inaugurated on December 21 of last year in the renovated Encamp Base space of the Funicamp, will celebrate its first anniversary next Saturday. Ordino Arcalís plans to open 100% of tracks and facilities

The Ordino Arcalís resort faces Christmas festivities with the opening forecast of 100% of the slopes and ski lifts. The field team has worked intensively over the past few days to have all the resort's layout, including the ski lifts that give access to freeride areas . Thus, if conditions permit, and always pending the weather, throughout the week all the ski lifts and slopes will be opened progressively, so that as of Saturday skiers will find the maximum percentage of open domain. The snow levels range between 50 cm and 90 cm of powder-hard snow .
