In order to be able to help the fans that in the good days of powder they reached the best valleys around Boí Taull to jump off the track, those responsible for the resort released the Freeride-bus last season to pick up these skiers who they end up on the road that goes from the Pla de la Ermita to the slopes. Initially, three marked stops were established, the first being at the Pont de Sant Marti (1,600 meters) and the last one at the base of the winter complex itself (2,020m high), but the reality is that the driver was stopping as He found them on the road.
The Freeride-bus began its journey in January last year. That first month barely got 20 people. In February the figure tripled and already in March the number started shooting up to 300 users. The mouth-ear had attracted numerous freeride lovers.
The service is completely free and the resort starts up again this year, although it will extend the help to these fans. From this season they will have a specific freeride map where not only the best itineraries are indicated, but small tips are given to have a better experience.
Virtually all itineraries begin at the end of the Puigfalcó chairlift and many of them run through wooded areas , something that in our country is virtually unpublished.
In addition, the resort has placed a series of ARVA control points on two chairlifts. One in the Express chairlift that is taken at the same base of Boí Taull, and another in the Roies that is the one that links with that of Puigfalcó.
The map, reminiscent of those made in North America for this type of skiing, recommends about 20 kilometers of itineraries , but Ignacio Giménez, Mountain Director of Boí Taull, says that many more routes could be taken, although for now Try these.
The itineraries can be found on the map, but on the ground there will be no sign because being inside the Natural Park, "it has not been possible to put a single stake," says Jiménez, who adds however that he has other itineraries in mind fun to be proposed for subsequent seasons if the initiative is successful.
However, to add new routes, it is not only necessary to mark them on the map, but first the resort must check that they are safe, and in summer clean of branches and vegetation that may cause some inconvenience to skiers. Avalanche hazard checks are also made.
