If you want to ski in Austria, skiing in the Ötz Valley is quite the experience. The Ötztal ski area consists of 6 ski resorts with 2 glaciers and forms one of the best ski areas with the best snow guarantee in Austria and the Alps.

The ski area boasts a total of more than 350km of slopes, offering a variety of slopes for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers alike at altitudes between 1800 and 3500 meters.

The most popular ski resorts are undoubtedly Sölden, world-acclaimed for its impressive après-ski atmosphere, and Gurgl, itself made up of the Obergurgl and Hochgurgl ski areas, linked by the Top-Express gondola lift.


The Sölden ski resort is one of the best known ski resorts in Austria, located in the central part of the valley and less than 90 kilometres from the city of Innsbruck. Sölden offers 146 kilometres of slopes and 33 ski lifts that allow access to the slopes without waiting.

Sölden is acclaimed for its off-piste leisure. Many skiers choose the most famous areas of Sölden where you can find the best party atmosphere in the Alps. Nearly a hundred bars, restaurants, discos and huts offer many options until late at night. Various festivals are held outdoors in Sölden so that you can also have fun without your skis.

Obergurgl-Hochgurgl is known as "The Diamond of the Alps" and is located between 1800 and 3080 meters above sea level.

Its longest and best known slope is the Wurmkogl - Obergurgl with 8 kilometers long and a skiable slope of 1260 meters, not suitable for shaky legs. If you feel like eating in a privileged place, we recommend eating in the futuristic Top Mountain Star restaurant, located on a narrow ridge at 3,080 meters and overlooking the Dolomites.


The ski season in Sölden usually starts in October, extending into May in many years. Skiing at the end of the year is certainly one of the most popular options, but we recommend skiing in Austria in January, once the masses of Christmas tourists have left and the slopes are empty.

Another great experience with esquiades.com The whole experience is so easy, their website is great and bookings is done in minutes. Their prices is lower than anyone else including the hotels themselves, same goes for skipass, ski rental, insurance. It feels so nice knowing that the company you buy from deliver in every area. Once your booking is done, everything is in the app, no need to print out anything (as a ng as your phone is charged)

Company trying to deceive people! One a week ago I checked the prices for an accommodation. This week, with the "Black Friday sale" they announce 30% off for the exact same accommodation. The prices are up by more than 20€ per person than they were before the sale. This is an illegal practice.

Group of 22 for a ski weeknd
We booked a ski weekend for a large group including hotel rooms, ski passes and equipment rentals.
